So after all the panic on Sunday it was less swabs than the week before. Just a backlog to be cleared.

I underage massive concern people have that cases have surged after schools return from a 7 day average the day before they went back of 648 to a massive 543 yesterday. Shocking.

Also the stat that primary schools kids, who make up more than 10% of the population now have 10% of cases, at a time when most other age groups have no reason to meet in groups at all.

So.. mandatory quarantine for incoming flight passengers going "live" on Friday, but only if you travel in from South America, many African countries, UAE or Austria.

I wonder if they just did a quiz of "name all countries of the world", and the winner was able to name 33 countries. I could think of a few other countries that should be on the list.

    €1875 for a 2-week staycation in a hotel.

    It's ridiculous.

Most of the 33 countries would have very fee arrivals anyway.

    https://www.independent.ie/world-news/coronavirus/quarantine-delay-allows-1213-fly-in-from-risk-nations-40220929.html

Quarantine delay allows 1,213 fly in from risk nations

More than 34,000 people arrived into the State - including more than 1,200 from high-risk countries such as Brazil and South Africa - in the three-week period after the Government signed off on mandatory hotel quarantine plans.

What are they doing in the Hyacinth House?

And because the government and HSE have f*cked about for 12 months not putting in any sort of capable track and trace for incoming travellers - we do not know whether they are responsible for one case in Ireland or thousands of cases in Ireland.

    Let's blame schools.

Even better is lot of those countries don't have direct flights so people will be on same flight as people who will be guarantining. They should just do it for everyone. Have exemptions for actually urgent and essential travel with proof and negative test.

UAE quarantine, near the top of the vaccinations tables?

    WTF.

how does it work if they are routed through London where we have no expectation of quarantine?

Obviously that is the way to come in. Fly to London then book a separate flight to Dublin.

Or a connecting flight to Belfast.

That is why it is stupid but what do you expect from Donnelly.

Donnelly said people had to make themselves known once flight has landed on radio earlier. Dunno if they can be picked up at immigration based on flight or passport info if they don't though.

That will be done for next March...

It's based on country of origin or if you've been in any of the listed countries in the last 14 days including transiting through ports or airports in listed countries.

I mean, it was 15 less positive swabs, but then Monday has 163 more positive swabs, so it's still not good.

Yeah just don't know how they could check. Maybe if it's a connecting flight or if passport stamped or digitally tagged but when it's not a direct flight you would wonder.

It may sound selfish, but keep your focus on Ireland. We're vaccinating like mad, and any reinfections will be mitigated/prevented. After that, stay away from the news headlines! They did a number on me during lockdown 1 :)

It looks like the mandatory hotel quarantine is dependent on passengers self declaring they are from a risk country. So it's a nonsense really.

What are they doing in the Hyacinth House?
