The lockdown feels like it ended about 3 weeks ago.

Anywhere I’ve been in the City the last 10 days/2 weeks has been jammed.

Very mild March has people out and about.

If we “moved” to Level 3 very little would change compared to what is currently happening up here.

It doesnt. By limiting options, people do travel less and so interact less. There is only so many times anyone wants to go to Woodies.

I would have it the opposite limiting options drives people to the same place, tesco where I shop is beside woodies and woodies is jammed every weekend.

The 5km is a nonsense. It takes no account of population density and was a limit plucked out of the some ones rearend.
In urban areas its just congregates people in a small area.

Yeah I was in town today and anywhere that was opened was absolutely wedged. People were literally tripping over each other in Tesco.

People legitimately have nothing else to do. There's only so many times you can go on the same walk before wanting to pull your hair out. People would probably rather chance going for shopping because at least they can use that excuse at a checkpoint, instead of going somewhere scenic or more open where they're more likely to be fined.

Are we not at the point that cases aren’t that important anymore? I know they are a good indicator of hospitalisation,ICU and deaths down the line, but given 450,000 of the most vulnerable (and HSE office staff) have had a first dose, then there shouldn’t be the same surge in these 3 following and Wave 4 in cases.

Until we get everyone vaccinated, we may have 1,000 cases a day but manageable hospitalisation and smaller death figures, while not in anyway good, it’s not the same as 1,000 cases when we had no one vaccinated.

The 5K was a draconian measure introduced when we were staring at 8000 cases a day, and most people accepted it at the time.

It should have been unwound at the last review.

From June 29th until after Christmas we mainly moved between national travel and own county travel, loosely enforced, that was a 6 month period.

To have it in place now is only slapping people in the face.

Hopefully, and reason to think do but that wheel has fallen off the cart before, who can say for certain.

Four parks within 5kms from us and we can’t go at weekends because they are too full . I am by no means blaming people we all want to be out . But it’s driving us all into a small area instead of spread out .

You only have to look at the graph of cases, hospitalisations and ICU figures to see that these should no longer have the relevance that they would have prior to vaccines and the beginning of this particular lockdown.

The government are scared to make the same mistake they did in December. (imo the mistake was introducing restrictions in the first place and building up the demand for the brief Xmas opening).

They don't have what it takes to make the decisions that need to be made. So what we see is an ever growing number of people taking matters into their own hands, no further restrictions after this will be successful.

There's plenty of footpath for everyone to exercise safely whatever the density. Many people wouldnt walk let alone run further than 5km, not to mention a reasonable loop within that of 10-20km if you paid them anyway. 5km is MORE than ample to get daily exercise.

There is no footpath with 5km of many houses in this little country

But our government cant see that. As covidrelease stated it should have been eased at the last review.

We are two weeks off the next movement and the special date of April 5th. With a next to useless government who have made a mess of things since day 1.

After 3 months plus, it is not that hard for me to understand that people want to meet up. They can’t be locked away together, so guess what they are meeting up. Why anyone is surprised with this, I don’t know. Most humans are social creatures.

Understanding this fact and how the virus operates should shape the plans going forward. I want the following:

Travel ban removed in the country - it’s pointless and a waste of resources.

Allow outdoor sports and training in small groups (15 max).

Allow outdoor dining based on the size of the venue. Not just 15. If it is big, then more, if it is small then less. Drinking only is fine too as a bowl of chicken wings doesn’t change anything. Strict health measures in place, time and households, contact tracing.

Click and collect for retail like we do for takeaways now. Only go to the shop if you are buying something you need, no browsing hanging around shopping centres allowed.

Personal services with strict controls. Let’s face it, there are lots of fresh looking professional cut haircuts going around, I know of three offering at home.

Meet-up’s with one other household in an outdoor setting or controlled drinking / dining (outdoors) permitted for two hours.

Continued WFH where possible and actual incentives for employers to encourage same, not the crap €3.20 or 10% pro-rata expenses Revenue allowed. Like allowing a decent claim of €10 per day of your wages if you stay at home and work should you be able to.

Give us an outline of what will happen when we get vaccinated. More freedoms and indoor meet-ups once both parties have at least one dose.

Treat us with respect and as adults and we will act like one.

Why would you need to go to a park. The limit isnt to be in a nice pace and enjoy yourself. Its to allow for some physical exercise. It it werent for the benefits of exercise, the restriction would not have your leaving your house at all. People shouldnt be going to parks at all unless its right across the road.

I live and work in Dublin, and I agree with you. Keep Leinster in Level 5. But Connacht and Munster can open up.

Or alternatively use all the vaccine supplies in Dublin, allowing Dublin to go to level 1, with the rest of the country in Level 5.

Either is ok with me. Though the second option might be slightly less popular outside Dublin.

    I have a better option.
Using Mwenge's own words, tell all from low numbered counties and areas to stay the xxxx away from Dublin...;)

I can think of half a dozen more or less permanent points.
Chapelizod bypass, Ranelagh, Amiens St, SCR, NCR, south quays, others dotted about, Kylemore, East Wall, Howth, Clontarf, Malahide Road. I mean there’s a lot of checkpoints so what you say is not true at all.

Jesus, from the sounds of it you'd be happy if people were walking around a prison yard, sure why would anyone need to be enjoying themselves at all :rolleyes:

If too many people are on the footpath then they will end up on the road which is an extremely dangerous situation.

Your arguments are on the ridiculous side but sure keep going if it keeps you happy.

Look at the chaos on this thread

Look at the anxiety amongst friends and family

And out taoiseach hasn't addressed the nation about covid in 5 weeks

He's the most cowardly, spineless politician I've known in my lifetime. And do you know what, a real leader would shine through during a crisis like this as its an opportunity to show everyone what you're made of.
