How do you know what Sam McConkey or Tony Holohan did or didn't do?

Holohan at the very least has made it clear that he enjoys going for a pint in the local.

It's just more stereotypical generalisations that have been imported here from what is portrayed in American TV shows.

As for the 'celebrity immunologists' id say Luke O'Neill would be good company for a few pints

I know the HSE have set out their programme for the various groups to be vaccinated e.g. over 70s, 65 to 70 etc. but are the estimated numbers for each group shown there also? Or elsewhere?
    Thanks

Supply was always going to be very limited in the first quarter. There is new production facilities coming on-stream all the time, we are going to see a big increase in supply. I'm not sure how quickly it will increase, but you can't extrapolate from the first 3 months to the new 3 months.

There's been talk of production coming on stream for months. I hope we do see 80% of adults having at least their first dose by the end of June but I wouldn't be pinning much hopes on it.

    Well medical services generally.

Have staff and operatives had their jabs for the most part and as a result is there now a reduced risk of contracting Covid from a visit to the hospital or the GP ?

One study mentioned a tiny % of positive cases when one (un-named) major hospital was mass tested. I forget the exact Tweet, it was shared by regular poster Stephen

Then a (since pulled) Irish Times article said "2,000 Covid cases acquired in Irish hospitals since the year began"

So definitely more data required on this for me

Come on, it was a stupid post, full of wild baseless generalisations. Pointless even trying to argue against it.

The fact that 8 people agreed with it enough to 'thank' it is a pretty sorry state of affairs also.

    569 this day last week.

May be a Paddy's day effect as people contacted doctors Thursday instead of Wednesday and are getting results now.

    High number of tests

Again a bit of caution with the number of swabs last few days and today. With St Patrick's day your looking at an increase in referrals Thursday to account for essentially 2 days worth of referrals. Those numbers should be coming through today.

For want of a better word it's noisy data at the moment. Have to see how early next week plays out.

Yeah absolutely, GP referrals would have been up on Thursday. Your looking at 2 days worth of referrals rolled into one.

Should work its way out though by today & tomorrow I'd say.

we cant blame paddys day ffs, the most people did was go for a bloody walk and a chat.

It’s annoying to see the numbers where they are. Is it one minority group causing this or is a mixture of everything. It would be great if they told where, when, how...

Nobody is blaming paddy's day for cases at the moment.

It's for tests. Anyone looking for their GP for a referral for a test on Wednesday would have had to wait until Thursday.

Thursdays referrals for tests would have essentially been 2 days worth, these should be working through the numbers today & tomorrow I would think

I think the point was that they didnt go for a test on Patricks day

That's not what people are doing. GP practices would have been closed, so most with symptoms would have waited until the next day. That's why they are saying referrals on Thursday were likely higher than a normal week.

Some mess this is turning into

Cases rising in a handful of counties. Offaly many multiples of metropolitan Cork.

When is this “we’re all in this together” going to stop and a focus on why some counties could go to Level 2 and some are off the scale? Why is Level 5 working well in Cork but an absolute disaster in other counties??

I suppose this coming week will throw up any possible rise due to either day. Personally, I think it was mother's day has more risk of adding to numbers as thats the day that multiple families may have met up and more likely inside too.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,457 ✭✭✭Cork2021

Another question I’d like to see the answers to.!
Do you think people will eventually just stop getting tested? Will there be a tipping point as to when people don’t feel well but say fûck this, it’s only going to increase the length of lockdown if I get tested etc..
now me personally if I ever do get symptoms especially this time of year I will go for a test if told to by my GP

We're they within their 5km on their walk? Did they stand 2 metres apart during their chat? If they didn't then this increase is the result Pat's on the back all round

Whilst I don’t disagree at all with your reasoning for today, I would have expected yesterday to be lower than it was for pretty much the same reason. Taking the 2 days together it’s disappointing to be honest.

Agreed, I don't believe them to be anyway dangerous and they need to remain open but its completely disingenuous for the authorities to continually downplay the risk of spread associated with schools.

Cases going up because people pretty much done with lockdown - some doing their own risk assessments but some just doing what they want...

Can’t see any potential to reduce them from here - test and trace seems to ineffective in providing any useable data - it’s a race to vaccinate with limited supply now

Yup I agree would have expected slightly less postive tests yesterday given the 12k tests

If there is any upside, 3297 more tests today giving 70 more positives from a high number of tests
