Whether people like it or not, whether people want to admit it or not, Tony Holohan comes across as a narcisstic egotist!
He picks his media appearances to further his image and avoids the hard questions.

    Facts!

If this ever ****ing ends, watch his next move...

What difference does it make how he “comes across”?

Are people that shallow that the let personalities dictate how they feel about the situation we’re in?

    A cute hoor.

Leave Glynn to answer questions like a badger in headlights, it’s going to get heavy from here on.

NPHET will rue the day they ever agreed to the daily briefings, Martin will hide behind them forever more.

It’s likely to late now for the economy and Martin realises that, his answers are just vague nothingness

I never once said it dictates how I/we feel about the situation we're in.
I was just making the point that his ego loves the limelight and media appearances and that will probably continue after this is over...

Very quick and snappy to defend Tony Holohan from something I never said...
    Interesting...

    You did...

I never once mentioned the situation we're in...

If you want, I've a whole list of things I can nail him with? I've done it before with people I'm friends with in the health service...Some they agree with, some they think I'm talking ****e about

But, it's been done to death on these threads, I'd feel we're going around in circles.
Can PM though if you'd like?*

Hello? Have you ever met actual humans? Yes, people care a lot about the personalities of their leaders. Amazing that you're here carrying on like it's a new ****ing concept. Christ.

Fine, i dont particularly wnat to engage with some who trivialises and downplays the horrors of the SS.

Once again, I haven't downplayed anything. At this point you have to be winding me up? No one can lack this much comprehension. I identified one similarity.

For god's sakes, grow up. It was blatantly obvious that that poster was merely saying that he can see where the comparison came from even if it was overblown and unsuited to the current situation.

"Just following orders" has been used throughout history to excuse atrocities. Some people will consider a person being violently restrained and potentially jailed for leaving their house without an excuse that their government finds adequate to be a ways along the road to tyranny.

And I'd be inclined to agree, no matter how many people feign outrage on the internet.

Myself and several others in this thread have been saying for at least the last 9 months that NPHET should not be doing briefings to the public/press and should not have public profiles.

I see people in the main thread and real world are finally coming around to this.

This whole thing is crazy, Everyone who was labelled 'conspiracy theorist' at the start is being proven correct with time.

We will agree to differ on that so. Let's just ignore each other eh? Why not sticky to your earlier post of not saying anything else to me and we will be grand .

Oh for crying out loud :pac:

And calling someone out for trivialising the SS is not something i will back down on.

By the time the vaccine is rolled out the Vulnerable cohort who received it first will already be needing boosters and will be susceptible again.
The whole charade will continue on; we'll have to lockdown to protect the vulnerable until they are vaccinated.

Hopefully we will have increased to 6km by then

He'd want to let go before gangrene sets in. Himself and Harris have been media shy these past few months, they're waiting for MM to fall on the sword and swoop in like vultures. Meanwhile, the public are being deliberately kept in the dark over potential easing of restrictions. We need leaders not slippery chancers, government presiding over a shambolic fiasco.

Look at the comments..if any kind of concern or speaking out against plans for level 5 until almost mid summer are still met with such resistance and animosity from so many in the population, where does that leave us. These people really genuinely believe that high case numbers are 1) the sole result of 'rule breakers' and 2) if these rebels would just shut up and hunker down like the rest of the country and let us get down to near zero cases that this would have any effect whatsoever on NPHET's plans to keep us in level 5 for months on end.

Even if we were registering 10 cases daily NPHET would still maintain Level 5 until June just in case. How will this ever end, I despair for the country, it's like watching a car crash in slow motion. What will be left be in June, if that is even the end of this, I don't want to emigrate, I love this country but I can't see a bright future here as things now stand :(

It's more worthy than your last 5+ posts? Do you just scan these forums to try and antagonize people who are actually interested in progressive discourse?

The herd mentality is shocking alright, you'd feel like a character in a Playstation game surrounded by NPCs who are programmed to act a certain way.

Oh and I was one of the others

I'm afraid Tony H made the bed for NPHET in October when he demanded immediate level 5 out of the blue.
Varadkar went against him in and publicly criticised him but the press dug in and sided with NPHET.
The press took public and political opinion with them.
Tony won out and with NPHET won that battle and have been holding ground ever since.

I do feel sorry for Glynn as I don't think he sees himself a a political being like his boss but he is paying the price for all the above now.

    Do Lockdowns work?

Bearing in mind in early January we had one of the highest level of infection in the world

The comments are further evidence that NPHET have fallen into the trap laid out for them.

They could have been just as conservative while reporting directly to government with advice, but they have now become public enemy number 1.

They really need to wake up and smell the roses and let the elected leaders take the hit

Definitely, but you need public buy-in. That begins to wain (it has done & will continue to do so) when you implement them too frequently and for too long.
