At least they are providing a goal for people. Perhaps it won't be met. But people need goals to focus and stay sane. If I thought I could have a pint in my local by 17th May per above, I'd find it a tad easier to get through the next 8 weeks!

There are no goals here, only despair.
Exactly , no plan , no way out which is leading to more and more throwing in the towel and doing what they think is right

They are telling you there's no end so you look at them as the good guys when they ease restrictions in early April, that's after Easter.
The reason they'll relax them then is because there is no other gathering event in the near future. I'd expect us to to go level 4 or level 3+ in early April and if numbers continue to drop you'll see restrictions ease more by the May bank holiday.

The media? Or a guest on a radio show?

Does a radio show hosting a guest not count as 'the media'?

You'd blame the media if they didn't report things. You can't have it both ways and still lay the blame on the messenger.

Are you genuinely saying the media haven't shamed anyone ? They are literally doing it everyday

That Whalley doctor from nphet was a disgrace the way he talked about that lady yesterday. There is no qualms his behaviour and tone yesterday was actually
reflective of the nphet "do not question us"

An opinion expressed by an independent guest is not "the media" no.

Does the letters to the editor section count as journalism?

Is ray walley a member of nphet?

So they read out a letter from a crank, or did the 'media' provide an unquestioning platform from which an 'expert' shamed someone?

Similar ballpark, different sports old chap.

George Lee does it every bloody day when he regurgitate nphet stories with his horror stance on them

You mean Dr Walley as referred to by RTE and at least two newspapers as
Dr Ray Walley, a GP in Dublin, ...
      and
Member of the National COVID-19 GP Liaison Committee,

No, he isn't part of NPHET.

He is a member of National Covid-19 GP Liaison Committee and was reporting at the same press conference as nphet so I'm sure they talk. Don't be so pedantic

So, again, RTE should censor the comments made by NPHET and any others that say something that may annoy you? And it's not just George Lee; all media reports the same material,

I'd say Doctor Walley shares a lot of the same views as you. An apt name, if there ever was one.

I doubt it, he seems like a doom monger.

No they should just report them in a proper manner and with a little balance like they do in other countries.

No they should just report them in a proper manner and with a little balance like they do in other countries.

Read many foreign newspapers today? And what balance was in the piece being reported that was lacking; because every outlet seems to have missed it? Even watching the press conferences I can't see what the reports missed.

BTW I'm not agreeing with what he said but I have to support reporting his comments whether we liked the content or not.

Wouldn't the balance to people saying stick to restrictions be someone advocating breaking restrictions?
