The only time I've been in favour of Ulster saying no. Good to see. Its been a long slog up here since September.

i think thats Donegal's lowest 14 day rate since late sept 2020 like you say been a long slog.

The current variant of covid is clearly only transmitted on trains then...Shut the railways and covid is gone! Rejoice!

12 of the deaths reported today happened in March. Have we even had a hundred deaths that actually happened in March so far?
And some deaths from today may not be reported until some point in the future.

Looks like it's a Swiss company manufacturing it and not "Italy". You make it sound like it's the Italian government manufacturing it.

Sorry yeah in Italy....... by Italians. Most of our Pharma industry is not Irish. Did you know?
Adienne Pharma & Biotech SA signed an agreement to manufacture the vaccine at its production site in the Milan region, founder and President Antonio Francesco Di Naro told Bloomberg in an interview.

SD saying the positivity rate on serial testing in nursing homes is now 0.2% (RTE 6.1)

    That's fcking incredible

I did some digging and - if I'm reading this right - our CFR is 1.4%

    https://www.hpsc.ie/a-z/respiratory/coronavirus/novelcoronavirus/surveillance/epidemiologyofcovid-19inirelandweeklyreports/COVID-19%20Weekly%20Report_%20Week%201_%20Slidset_HPSC%20-%20Website.pdf

It's on page 2 of that report

I'm open to correction as there's a lot of numbers and data in it. Maybe Spookwoman can give it a look as she has an eye for data

If our CFR is 1.4% then I think unfortunately we haven't seen the end of high-ish daily mortality numbers just yet

    January was a disaster

Of course, but when less than half the reported deaths are from march, it's possibly not a stretch to say we're going in the right direction.

By which time the market will be flooded if all vaccines are delivered as scheduled. That increasingly looks like a big if.....

Not really. All the big deals with other manufacturers making capacity available for some of the existing manufacturers come on board in late q2/q3, together with the likes of Novovax, curevac etc etc.

It is not a all surprising that there have been ramp issues within the manufacturers. It takes time to bring stable supply of any new pharma product to market, not least when demand far outstrips supply. Globally 310 million vaccines have been administered in just 3 months at a time when only some of the suppliers have made it to market, and all of them are still trying to ramp up those supply chains. This will be a multiple of the number in Q2 and still growing.
13.2% of vaccines administered have been within the eu. I don’t believe the eu accounts for 13.2% of global population

Might be some waiting for second jabs as outbreaks delayed the vaccinations.

He didn't say, but by now you'd have to assume the vast majority of nursing homes & staff are vaccinated!

The restrictions will be back then if RO is a factor in the restrictions.

Once restrictions are lifted the waves from the ocean will come back with non sterilising
vaccines in the 21-22 Winter, the virus will be in circulation, its not going away

Realistically we are looking at 30-40% of the population not vaccinated before winter.

10-20% of the younger population understandbly dont want an emergency approved vaccine they probably dont need.

The other 20% of U18's,pregnant women, allergies etc have no vaccine available to them

Restrictions really should be about based on hospilisations only and nothing else

RO will be above 1 with no restrictions in place, that's not even a question, pubs, concerts, nightclubs, aviva rugby matches, cinemas, maskless, not a chance it will be under RO of 1

What are we looking at this winter

3 million vaccinated out of 5 million people?

2 million people free to circulate a virus that's crazy transmissable

If they only look at hospital activity we will have no lockdowns, but if its that RO rubbish and positive tests on healthy people based restrictions we are screwed

After 54+ year olds are vaccinated we need to stop all pcr tests outside hospital admissions only

I get what you're saying regarding hospitalisations but why would you stop the PCR tests? Surely we should continue with this and genome sequencing for the foreseeable. There is still much not known about the virus at this point.

They better not leave 6 weeks again between review of restrictions. Should be 4 weeks at most.

Strange question for anyone to answer but when do ye think the hospitality sector will be opening? Will the government speed up the process or follow its roadmap?
