35ml of cold brew and 50ml of baileys stirred over ice is actually a really nice nighttime tipple.

The last glass of French Chestnut tonight. It was a much appreciated companion that I'll meet again one day no doubt.

I remember ordering Crested in Chaplins pub on Hawkins Street in January 2019 (FA Cup game was on) and it was still the old bottling on the shelf.

I frequented Chaplins many a day. What I'd give for a pint of Guinness and a whiskey chaser in it now!

The Irish Whiskey Society are having a members tasting at the end of March. Goes on sale this Wednesday at 7pm. Another one I'll be skipping as I've tried 4 of them before and have a sample of the other one.

Currently the Irish whiskey category is growing in extremely fast pace both within Ireland and worldwide, we are seeing a range of independent brands appearing on the market.

Which is why for our March tasting we would like to invite our members to experience some of the exciting whiskeys from some well regarded Independent bottlers. We are delighted to have special guests from each brand to present and guide us through their expressions.

    1. Horizon - 10 yr Blend 43% ABV: matured for at least 10 years in American Bourbon casks. Expert finishing in selected Barbados Rum casks

    2. Liberator Double port - Cask strength 62.1% ABV: blend with high malt content and finished in Tawny and Ruby port casks.

    3. W.D O'Connell 18yr - PX - ABV 58.16%: matured in 1st fill bourbon barrels for 17 years and further 13 months in a Pedro Ximénez sherry cask.

    4. CURRACH Single Malt Cask Strength Founder Cask - Wakame 58.4% ABV : finished in Irish Wakame seaweed charred casks.

    5. Two Stacks - Smoke & Mirrors - Cask Strength 57% - Peated Stout Single Malt - Sherry finish and x Dot Brewing Finish.

Waterford Whisky have launched a weekly podcast called Terroir Driven. Episode three released today.

I didn't know the back story with Waterford Whiskey until lately... Mark Reynier was the guy who bought and rejuvenated, then sold, Bruichladdich.

I know this is old news, but for anyone wondering about the ethos behind the distillery, some insights in this interview: https://malt-review.com/2016/01/25/interview-with-mark-reynier/

Unreal value. Its cheaper to buy 14 of these than buy the 700ml bottles themselves. :pac:

    14 x €26 = €364

    Barry Crockett - 250
    Redbreast 12 - 60
    Green Spot - 60
    Johns Lane - 65

I would have to make a little house out of the boxes if I came home with 56 miniatures in one go.

Back onto Ardbeg 10. Hated it at first but love it now. It's great going back to something you really enjoy

Is it going to be a standard expression going forward?

Got the father in law a bottle of Drumshanbo pot still for his birthday. Have to say it is a really eye catching box and bottle, looks very striking and luxurious.

As a company they make thier product and bottles very catching which is I suppose is an important thing in a busy market.

Am a tad jealous so will be getting myself one soon enough.

Got my brother one for his birthday last week as well. Hoping restrictions are lifted in time for me to call in to get a taste.

I ordered a sample of it when I ordered the gift. Found it very nice and subtle, needless to say I will have to sample more to get a full feel of it. However I look forward to getting a bottle myself

Irish distillers are on a roll with the launches of Midleton 2020, 2021 and Bluespot all selling out straight away. Tomorrow will be no different. I'm not a big fan of these event releases especially queuing up or ringing around trying to find a bottle before they are snapped up by non whiskey drinkers.

Where is this one available though? Will it make it to the shops, or will it be online, and then sold out.

I was just checking if that was the only way.
I managed to get Blue Spot via email, and MVR21 by just asking in my local offie.

Does anyone have experience with Sailor's Home? I see that a lot of bottles are on sale from master of malt.

I had a Connemara Peated last night. Very tasty indeed, not knock your socks off but enjoyable none the less. I will admit I've not had huge exposure to peated stuff, I'd pick up a scotch then buy an Irish instead.
