How confident are you in that assertion, because that looks a lot like defamation to me.

I suggest you report my posts if you have sincere concerns that I have broken any laws.

Leaking that information to the media so late at night without any announcement from the government was a despicable assertion of authority over our elected leaders, but colour me stunned that you are more upset and bothered by my alleged defamation of Tony H than you are about the manner in which a couple of hundred thousand people found out their jobs were gone (again) mere weeks before Christmas.

I was hoping for level 4 just for optics, call whatever it is level 4...

When you look up the levels, there's not much difference between 4 and 5!

So to give public a boost, just call it 4.

Level 4 has wet pubs open with outdoor seating.

And you know for certain that it was Tony Holohan? You made the assertion, so we presume you have evidence.

You'd hardly just make it up, would you? Just like the rest of your opinions to suit yourself?

They should go hairdressers, click and collect, construction and expand 5k to county wide imo. Fair enough if you want to put 2 weeks between them so on 5th, construction and hairdressers/click and collect open and then on 19th the other 2 go.

That would be nice and a balance between reopening and controlling the virus imo.

Admittedly, can't see it. We could be hitting 50 cases a day and i'd expect them to go, nope, the data isn't there for reopening.

Are you Holohan's lawyer? What a ludicrous veiled threat to make in an internet forum, some people have lost all sense of proportion.

That's what worries me, we were hitting single number case days with zero deaths and practically nobody in hospital last summer and NPHET were going on about how concerned they were.
I suppose vaccines are going to be the difference this summer but without knowing the exact metrics the government are going to base decisions on we are pretty much in the dark.

All you’re concerned about is a game of whataboutery and point scoring, which I have no interest in indulging you in. It’s derailing the thread and boring for everyone else to read.
I took time out of my day to reply to your post properly and all you could respond with was with concern for the reputation of Tony Holohan.

Whether it came from him or a member of his team, he is in charge and he is responsible for any leaks. All of this occurred mere hours after his first team meeting after his return to work.
The manner in which that news was leaked was completely unprofessional with no regard for the well-being of the people it would directly effect.
It’s a pity you can’t show the same level of concern for the people these actions directly impacted, as you do about fighting for the honour of Tony’s character.

Either way I am done engaging with you as this is becoming overly personal now, as I said if you think I have defamed anyone please contact a mod and I am sure they’ll let me know if I’ve broken the law.

It's not a threat, is a statement. SusieB said that Tony Holohan leaked the Nphet letter. I'm asking for proof as it's the first time I've heard that he'd done it. She would hardly just make up an accusation would she??

    ..........

It’s actually laughable that you’re saying NPHET are merely an advisory board when they have been running the country for the last year.
Sure Tony H was only barely back in the door in October when he undermined the government by leaking the level 5 lockdown to the media at 10pm on a Sunday night - lovely classy behaviour putting the fear in people that their jobs were going to be gone again so late at night.

    ......

The longer each lockdown goes on, the less people comply with the rules which defeats the purpose of having the economy shut down.
Leo said from day 1 that they were supposed to be short and snappy to get cases down because people simply couldn’t be expected to comply with them for long periods of time.
    ......

    .

Tenner bets it was Leo that leaked that. It was clear ploy to undermine them.

Get people foaming at the mouth with the news of the recommendation then appear on CB live as a white knight and tell the nation "NPHET are wrong"

We know who was wrong though really. We are still in lockdown after that lovely meaningful Christmas and now with a new more transmissible variant.

Let's not misremember what actually happened.

Yeah like it's obvious that Leo leaked the variant and were in this lockdown because of him.

He is a serial leaker but I wouldn't say that. Even though he has the moniker "Leo the Leak"

Theyre just burying their heads in the sand at this point.

Construction has "officially" stopped, but anyone who is out and about can clearly see it has just moved from building sites into nixers in people's homes.

Plenty of fresh haircuts too, that clearly aren't DIY.

I doubt the 5km is being strongly adhered to either.

I've been saying it for weeks - the government is actually making things more dangerous by pushing these things into uncontrolled settings rather than accepting they will happen regardless - and would be best to allow them to open in as safe a manner as possible.

Yup, I know plenty who've got haircuts or not bothering with the 5k. I seem to know more ignoring the 5k (particularly those living in rural where there might not be an ideal area within 5k to exercise) than those following it at this stage.

We don't have a clue who leaked stuff. We do know that Holohan denied leaking it.

Have the checkpoints been eased? Drove around Dublin today north and south, through town as well and didn't come across any checkpoints.

    Sunday: 445 / 13741: 3.24% (!)
    Today: 464 / 10675: 4.35%

    7-day is now firmly below 4 - 3.81%

    Equivalent two days last week were 5.06% & 4.14% (663 & 506 swabs)

    Good numbers all round.

Bit of a drop in testing and a rise in positivity rate. Not sure how to interpret that or if it is at all meaningful.

Still one inbound on the Naas Road at Long Mile that has been there since the start of the 5km rule. There all day every weekday at least.

I thought that it was widely accepted that regardless of the variant, Christmas, or leaks, we were going to be in and out of lockdowns until a large portion of the population is vaccinated anyway.

Christmas or no Christmas, we’d probably be in lockdown again by now regardless. And as with all of our lockdowns, we get into them easily but find it very hard to navigate our way back out.

Let’s also not forget that the government left our airports wide open with no mandatory quarantine to import thousands of cases of the new variant.
I believe it was Leo who said imposing forced quarantine on incoming citizens and travellers would be too harsh and unfair, but then supports long term indefinite lockdowns on 5 million people.
    The mind boggles.

Probably a gap in mass testing cycles.

Nursing homes hospitals etc. Those cycles have the lowest positivity rate of all testing groups and drag the over all average down significantly.

I'd like some statistical information on positivity in different groups. We won't get it except for the odd quote in nphet briefings but it would be interesting to see.

Excellent news on the positivity rate, does this now mean Ireland is off the red list on travel and back as an orange country for acceptance in other European countries?
