Yes i seen that, its getting beyond a joke now. The BBC have announced they will be running warnings about outdated language and jokes before shows like "Dads Army" and "Porridge". Gawd help us.

Maybe they'll start bleeping the "no no" words or try to cancel the actors:D reminds me of when Fairytale of New York got taken off the radio. The absolute idiocy of political correctness. Even a couple of history channels on YouTube I'm fond of are getting demonetized. Hopefully they don't see my bookshelf with my WW2 books:D

Yeah its incredible what people will use as weapons, I saw a documentary on the Libyan civil war and they strapped a gun from a plane to it, similar to the last image.

A German charged with supplying the Russians with the floor plans of the Bundestag. You would think the russki's would have made a note of the floor plans back in the 40's.

It's changed somewhat since April 1945.:D:D
We did a bit of renovating and DIY in the meantime, but left all the Russian and Allied grafitti and" Kilroy was here" stuff up on the walls as historical shreds of evidence. Think these would be morei interesting plans of the off-limits areas underneath the main floor plans that you can get free online or in the main lobby.

They're doing 40,000 or so per month at the moment.

The announcement was they intend to up that to have 1.2 million done by the end of March. That means (if you take the 350,000 already done) they have 900,000 to do in 31 days. Thats 30,000 per day from 40000 per month.

Then 1 million per month over April, May and June.

Be great if they do it, but i don't see how they can do such a huge jump.

Not going to happen unless we get every health professional,IE Vet, doctors, army medical corps, paramedics, dentists, chemists doing doses,24/7363 we never close over March/April.
But it wont happen...Because guess why???....MONEY!!! The GPs are getting 30 quid an arm from the govt to do these vaccs and the excuse is of course "refrigeration and distribution. Or more like whatever our EUSSR overlords are rationing us out.

Plan is for a workforce of around 2000 qualified vaccinators in addition to GP's, hospitals & clinics. Closing date for applications is tomorrow.
    Logisitics are already in hand.

Two years suspended and the one year of "prison" will actually be house arrest with monitor. So not exactly prison.

Not sure what mean? This is happening, people are being recruited currently. It's in line with the timescale for arrival of enough vaccine to need the extra staff.

I know in our village that the over 85's got their first jab last Tuesday.

We're very lucky with the new GP we have had for the last few years, he's a true gentleman that makes time for everyone.

Our previous two GP's a married couple that he replaced on their retirement were both outside the surgery all day Tuesday as was the local pharmacist. They just chatted with the folks while they were waiting their turn after answering any and all questions and reassuring them that all was good.

There was no financial gain involved and no directions from imaginary overlords, just ordinary people helping others because they could and they wanted to.

And like plans could not have been made in the last 9/11 months to get this recruitment drive in operation for when the vacc was ready to be rolled out??? Put people in place to roll once the vacc hit the ground to be ready to roll once they get a txt message?

I get the EUSSR rant simply because our spineless lot will swallow any ol sht the EU Soviet tells them to do. We could be buying the stuff off the UK,who are now almost half done with theirs since they got out from this micromanaging superstate we seem to all still love for some reason.
But that would take leadership and responsibility, something NO Irish politician has shown since Lemass, as it is easier to just pretend to be in power and collect the cheques, while grownups make decisions FOR us in Brussels.

I think your underestimating how much is actually ready. I got a look at the planning lately and was actually fairly impressed - not something I say often about the HSE. I think the recruitment pace isn't too far wrong either. This is all for people who already have the qualifications, so doesn't need a mad lead time. I've stuck my own name in just in case they run low on numbers- all I'd have to do training-wise is some online modules on the vaccines being used and a skills refresher to make sure I have a notion where to stick the needle.

The UK did get a headstart on the EU by about 2 months, but they did it by taking some pretty big chances on vaccine approval and dose sequencing. It's worked out well for them and fair play - but personally I'm OK with having the vaccines carefully approved. It's interesting seeing how the public in places like Hungary and Czech Republic don't seem to be delighted by the idea of taking the Russian vaccine which their governments are buying outside the EU approval system.

Have the UK actually offered to sell us any of their stock?

What qualifications are needed to give jabs ? They have soldiers doing it in the UK , doesn't seem to be causing problems.

You essentially have to be a registered practitioner here in one of the listed groups i.e. doctors, nurses, physios, dentists, optometrists, pharmacists, EMT, paramedic or advanced paramedic. All groups who would already have the training on giving IM injections and the legal ability to do so.

I'm guessing the brits were using army medics rather than just Pvt. Bloggs from the 2nd Foot & Mouth regiment?

IOW any of those who have the legal ability to "break skin"?

Germany is using its entire medical corps for this as well, even those who have apparently doused themselves with the training anti NBC atropine injector are considered qualified to admin this,or so the scuttlebutt is going round.

Doing anything requires a plan. Otherwise you just get seven shades of randomness.

Fair play to you for putting yourself forward. That's the kind of attitude that will actually help the outcome. I can only offer well wishes, not much use.

A bit surprised at this question.
I certainly let a random person with no knowledge near me with a injection. Not sure what you background is, but would you be comfortable having a crack at it? Do you know the different technique and location needed for intramuscular, intravenous and subcutaneous? My knowledge gets blurry beyond knowing they exit.

I do know that, strangely, We are about 14 or 15 months into this ****show, they are only planning now ? That was my point.

How long does it take to train someone of reasonable intelligence to give an injection ? We need to get our collective finger out before the Brazilian strain takes hold, especially seeing as our stupid government is still allowing people from Brazil to fly in here .

Civdef said this is the plan, not that it will be the plan.
I took that to mean the plan has been made and we and about to kick it off.
Whether it was made a week ago or a year ago, the effect is the same is we only have the resources to initial the plan from March.
How long does it take to train someone of reasonable intelligence to give an injection ?
Probably not very long. But if they aren't trained/qualified then then need training, fairly simple. The liability risk without would be massive.

Even those who are qualified, need to be made aware of the method, as not all vaccines are the same.

I see both Austria and Denmark have decided to get the covid vaccines from their own sources, rather than rely on what the eu is giving them. Von der leyen flops again.

The upper arm is an intramuscular shot, and proably the easiest to do for anyone or to teach. Still, it beats me why this can't be administered by a nasal spray or a vaccine gun?Two of many types of injection systems this antidote is well adapted to apparently?

Upper arm (tricep) is also used for subcutaneous shots like MMR and varicella. I doctor in the US was warning people that footage he had seen from vaccination centres showed people using subcut technique with this IM jab.

Yep, deltoid muscle. As Mellor has pointed out though, if you pinch the skin instead of stretching it or angle the needle wrong, you end up with an ineffective subcutaneous injection.

I think research is still ongoing onto alternative means of delivery - they went with the simplest route for quick approval on this one.

Actually learning the mechanics of how to give IM injections could easily be done in a day. You just need a lot of oranges.

Learning the ins and outs of medication administration and recording, consent, how to reassure nervous patients, and probably more importantly, what to do if the person reacts badly takes a lot longer. If you can draw on a sufficient pool of people who already have those skills, it makes sense to use them.

One of my relations used to work as a mercenary. Three or four lads would be at nothing against him. Tough as fcuk and afraid of nothing, not hatchets, not knives, not guns.....................nothing...................except needles. :pac: He'd tackle three hardy men with hatchets but he'd run a mile from a 5 year old with a syringe. :pac:
