I do not expect anyone to take the vaccine. At all. Au contraire you EXPECT me to take it. Open up when you have sufficient vaccination to feel secure. No problem.
I disagree, at this stage it's proven to be safe so there's no "waiting" required.

Provided they're healthy and capable of taking it, anyone that doesn't take the vaccine is extremely selfish.

Obviously you are more likely to spread the virus when unvaccinated, but - however if you are an at-risk person the onus is on you to get vaccinated. If most of the at-risk people get vaccinated, then a few people who dont aren't of much consequence really.

Eventually we will get to a point where most people are vaccinated, and wont get bad if any symptoms should they catch it. So if anti-vaxxers of sceptics dont want to vaccinated they have that right. They will be putting themselves at risk more than anyone else.

While I intend to take the vaccine, it would seem to be the case that if the vast majority of people get vaccinated should it really matter if a small proportion choose not to - they won't be infecting vaccinated people (hopefully!), and only each other for the most part, but with majority vaccinated, it will be difficult enough to spread no?

In a way, why would airlines insist on a vaccine being taken, if anyone vaccinated is not really at risk, and those not vaccinated only have themselves to blame if they get infected?

I'd be fairly confident we'll see sub 400 several times this week.

    in Northern Ireland

Donnelly- HSE seeing 95% reduction in Covid infection rates in hospital staff - due to both impact of vaccine and lower community transmission.

Says majority of this is due to vacinations

would a complaint to Comreg be appropriate for things like this?

Or even to feedback@rte.ie for the sake of it? Their mandate means such complaints are at least circulated internally to senior management. There might be some internally in RTE interested in such complaint.

It'll be decided at EU/country level and airlines will follow on from their lead. Doubt we'll see much detail on it for a month or two anyway.

Great to see. Hopefully this is the beginning of the end of this awful illness.

Or is it immunity because so many hospital staff already had the virus 😉

Tut tut no! Those who are vaccine cautious 2 months into the drive are already actively murdering vulnerable people in their beds.

Well, this seems to be the opinion held by some who have very loudly on here excused many other people, ie those who slobbered in each others laps during lockins over Christmas and then brought covid back home to vulnerable people who may have been among the 2000 + who died in the past 2 months, as being poor craythurs let loose from lockdown and helplessly driven to such activities due to "natural" pent up desires for socialisation. God love them, they could not help themselves and blame is (in selective cases only!) a terrible game to play. So I have been told on here anyway by the moral exemplars.

Old lady in her 80's beside me fully vaccinated now. Lovely to see , was talking to her today , she was so noticeably relaxed compared to usual , not guarded or distancing , she was just acting so normal and seemed so happy. Im so glad for her it's like a weight lifted

Hoping for good news then. Will help speed up the vaccines with it being only 1 dose.

You'd think they could just approve it now, are they really going to say no?

I believe it doesn't make much difference though as deliveries into EU not expected until end of March.

Monday and Tuesday are usually the lowest swab days of the week so we probably won't see it.

Even lower than swabs. Wonder is there some duplicates or retesting being done so.

The government really need to read the room otherwise the room will be empty and we'll all be >5km away before they know it.

Yeah I think people would really like a meaningful easter after the meaningful Christmas.

You can safely reopen certain sectors without driving spread through the roof.

As it is there are plenty meeting up with people, ignoring 5k and know of hairdressers operating out of their houses.

Might as well reopen some stuff (like hairdressers) to give a safer environment.

So many counties with low numbers now. Cork and Kerry axis of suppression leading the way :)

Where have I heard that before? Oh yeah ....December. :pac:

Meaningful easter sounds just as dangerous as meaningful Christmas.

We reopened a lot of stuff, including hospitality, in December.

In fairness, I think they are referring to after Easter
