F€ck off RTE. They could at least show us a matinee movie instead.

Mad suggestion I know ,but you could always change the channel.

Start the 3% party (well not a party given the level 5 restrictions).

    Positive Swabs
    692

    Positivity Rate
    3.84%

Excellent numbers, and that's a high level of testing too.

Would like a history of the positivity rate by class of test.

Nolan mentioned on Thursday that day 10 tests for close contacts were beginning to hit the system so falls in the positivity rate were somewhat artificial.

Great to see the continued reduction in positivity, hopefully it accelerates now the rate is consistently below 5% and considered "under control" again.

Has there been any explanation recently about the growing gap between swabs and cases over the past 10 days? Haven't been able to keep up with the thread here but based on the tracker there seems to be about 1,000 extra swabs that have gotten lost in the ether?

    https://covid19.shanehastings.eu/api/swabs/?c19tw

Seems a large number for just retesting of previous positive cases?

Good progress on last Saturday when we had 844 positive swabs from 15606 tests carried out.

The protest is stupid, the protesters stupider, and the violence utterly reprehensible and inexcusable.

The Government need to act now to give a clear route out of their restrictions or this will start becoming more regular. People with nothing to lose are dangerous. People with no hope are unpredictable. People who are being told that the ban on them working is to last for months more with no end to it in sight are ripe for the plucking by the extreme right.

My personal opinion is that the Taoiseach needs to resign if the Government is to regain public trust after its behaviour in the last month or so

Shocking scenes in Dublin, basically a big f*ck you to the vast majority who have adhered to restrictions and families who suffered through this. Feeling angry about it tbh

Crazy stuff. So people aren't allowed outdoors now? They'll all go indoors instead.....

I entirely withdraw my comment. Had no idea a gang of lunatics were having a crazy protest. Feel sorry for the Gardai having to deal with that level of stupidity

The anti lockdowners were complaining for a long time about peoples mental health for the government to stop the lockdown, ignore the virus and allow life to continue as before. As if mental health is the only element that is important to one's health. Then they show up in an anti lockdown protest to throw fireworks into a crowd to put other people at risk of physical hurt and harm.

Protests have been happening the last year . There has been no surge in numbers

    Let's not be OTT

The frustration at the nonsense restrictions boiled over today. If nothing changes then another week will bring out a bigger crowd.

I’m saying nonsense restrictions, which means that some of them are nonsense and unnecessary and some are not but they need to be reviewed and refined.

Most of those are just low lifes who would join in with any protest.

There is a very clear route out of the restrictions. It's not the governments fault if some people are too dim to catch onto it and understand it.

They are giving schools the priority to go back and they are taking a cautious approach by allowing some classes to go back and not all classes so that the situation can be monitored. The situation will be reviewed again in early April. The schools reopening is the priority for now with other activities to follow after that.

Clear route eh? Can you share this clear route please for those of us too dim to understand?
For example what metrics have to be met for non essential retail to open, what metrics have to be met for personal services to reopen. What metrics need to be met to lift the 5km restrictions. Thanks in advance.

    Oh, brilliant. I missed it.

My next door neighbour owns a shoe shop. Could you tell me which date the prohibition on him opening his business and supporting his family ends? He'll be delighted to hear about this clear route.

Curious SeaMermaid claims the route is clear but as of yet is unable or unwilling to clarify what this clear route is...ah well .

I've a feeling those involved in the carryon during that protest don't give a monkeys about restrictions or lockdowns. They attach themselves to any opportunity for violence and mayhem.

It does seem pretty clear.. relax restrictions in stages, and lift them (or most of them) once enough people are vaccinated?

Arresting people for throwing fireworks? Sure. For protesting? I really hope not.
