It's great to see the dominoes finally start to fall, and judging by the level of traffic on the roads and people out and about, compliance of these restrictions is on a downward trajectory. Hopefully the government start to take notice and reduce restrictions before they're forced to by non compliance.

With how disconnected this government is, Id say the most likely scenario is a knee jerk reaction to people ignoring restrictions, they will try and increase enforcement - which will probably spur on further backlash. Then they will finally be forced to roll back restrictions.

It's time to wake up and take back our country from the tyrants.

If you're stopped at a checkpoint and ask a guard for his hat he has to let you through if you show your passport singing 'the men behind the wire'

Guards have no power to stop anyone going anywhere under the natural laws of this country where the great man Michael Collins himself would be spinning if he thought for one second that Bill Gates' henchmen, modern day tans, were turning this country into a police state WORSE than North Korea, where people are prisoners in their own homes if they aren't already crippled with the fear of George Lee who is basically Lord Haw haw for the dzopes in nphet and the government.

    Is it yourself Ben?
How did you get on in Balbriggan yesterday.

"Well, yeah, you know, that's just, like, your opinion, man"

60% in favour of going back to normal once the elderly and vulnerable have been vaccinated.

Whens that currently down for. May?

Just over two thirds of the respondents think the current level of restrictions is about right or there are not enough restrictions.

    Ya, I'd agree.

The Government announced a Living in fear of Covid Plan this week they can't go back to the drawing board...they'll have to be forced to, it's the problem with media, when it is this hysterical and one sided, it creates the illusion you can do no wrong...

I think Micheal Martin genuinely read the room wrong and went with the stringent NPHET path...the clock is ticking now as to how long it takes to reverse and save face...

This is actually entertaining...the hysteria is running out of steam, the numbers are headed down and will continue to do so....Martin looks like a man playing three card Monty, he is just about to get that dread feeling...

No they won't, restrictions will be eased in accordance with the poll results, as has been the case throughout the pandemic, such as at Christmas when most of the population favoured easing of limitations on their lives. They are directly connected and directly reflect what the population favours in terms of COVID restrictions.

As anti-restriction as I am I cant say i find this as hilarious as you do.
I am not gay myself but I find it very sinister to imply that if you're gay you're into kids. Very sinister actually and very low.

Ah would ya stop! It’s just a joke. It would be as funny if Micheál said it like. And ironically the person who sent it to me is a gay man.

Yesterday Morning Ireland were full of praise for MM and how his speech gave hope. This is what you're up against.

60% in favour of going back to normal once the elderly and vulnerable have been vaccinated.

Why would that 40% want a continuation of the new-normal lockdown lifestyle once the vulnerable have been vaccinated ?

The whole idea was to flatten the curve and protect the vulnerable, I would think that 40% need to take a look at ther own lives - we only get one life, and it is for living !

presumably because the remainder of the population won't have been vaccinated?

Look, I feel like I feel about it. I am not going to make big deal about it, I'm not into the whole faux outrage stuff. I'm not saying you intended it that way and I wont hold that joke against you. No hassle.

Its just this kiddy thing is something that has been used historically to vilify gay men. Thats the sinister bit and therefore I just dont find it an appropriate joke at all.

    Maybe I'm overreacting too.

Ah it was actually my first thought too but I think in 2021 in Ireland you'd have to be pretty cynical to think that's the reason people were laughing at it!

You feel how you feel and you’re entitled to. Personally I think the fact Leo is actually gay is secondary to the joke. It would have been just as funny if it was Micheál, Simon or Stephen.
I don’t want to derail the thread with this so we’ll have to agree to disagree!

Fair enough. Like I said maybe I'm over reacting. Again no hard feelings.

so just solve the Covid problem , and ignore all other problems -
The mortality rate is something around 0.4 - When the vulnerable have been vaccinated - other serious issues need to be addressed - Mental health / Education / and other serious medical conditions like cancer.

40% are probably people who hate their jobs and never want to go back to the office again and probably never had any sort of social life

Enough of this sort of posting please. Those people are entitled to their views as well, you can disagree with their viewpoints but you have absolutely no right to criticise them in this manner for having that view

You'd wonder though. Obviously 40% of people do not all fall into that category
