So could the absolute madness of the continued restrictions result in a legitimate protest by the public who would never have considered it until now? I would 100% attend a protest that had legitimate support.

There is not a hope the sane Irish public would protest
You’d have better hope of finding Fungi at this rate,

Not a hope this country would protest, half this country won't even hear a word against the Catholic Church after all they did.

So the government is holding restrictions in place because it has been shown when restrictions are eased that people can't make sensible decisions. You are going to prove them wrong by having a mass gathering in the middle of a pandemic. Well done.

I bet you didn't think that last year during the BLM protests. At some point we need some logic and reason, and at the moment it doesn't exist in this country.

Can you explain how his journey is necessary?

    No , no , no , no.
That red herrings not gonna fly with me.
    Answer my question first.

    Again

“ If he has a negative PCR test and self isolates upon his return for the accepted time then he is not harming anyone.

Do you agree or disagree with the above statement.

If you disagree please outline the threat or potential harm he presents to this country”

We need a living with Covid plan, not a shut up shop for months and then reopen where people will go mad.

Wonder what will be said in MM nations address

He already said 'things may not return to normal till we have a vaccine and we all know what's after happening

The Government are out of their minds if they think people will comply with this for much longer.

The figures are going to decrease week on week...the evenings getting longer, the weather should improve...we've been locked down now since 3rd week in Oct, with a brief reprieve in Dec.

The people have done enough, vaccine rollouts, hospital outbreaks, care home outbreaks are not the fault of the vast vast majority of us.

    The health problems are mounting.

IF only we had a media outlet to break ranks with the others, like what we are seeing in the UK.

a huge swathe of the population is and will be 100% compliant till at least the end of the year if not longer, thanks in part to the Media fear machine. Also there are many new laws / fines in place to deal with any 'transgressors'. Many people have adapted and accept this as an indefinite reality of existence.

You could see guards turning up in vans throughout the spring/summer breaking up any gatherings except this time there will be way more than last summer. It could get messy.

Everyone has their limit. In terms of compliance mine would be this Summer.

Are any other country as scared as the new variants as us ??

It's a joke at this stage and we all know the hard questions won't be asked

The country should have never moved beyond Level 3 restrictions as a whole.

If a county gets overwhelmed with cases then move to Level 5 and extra police force to enforce the restrictions or even the army.

While Xmas was unfortunate it was always going to happen as people are sick to death of the full restrictions and people returning home from abroad.

What it God's name does Lietrim and Kilkenny need to be on full lockdown now for.

You're dead right. One is made up nonsense imported from another country, the other is COVID.

Very interesting how it is more difficult to locate the number of new cases tonight. No front page headline?

How unusual. You'd think they would want to share the half good news.......

    No not this time.

It is on the front page of these two obscure websites

Is Leo trying to turn people against the government? What is the point of this constant pushing back of reopening despite declining cases?

We opened at Christmas despite numbers going up now we're talking about keeping closed for another 3 or 4 months despite numbers going down and more and more vaccines becoming available. What are we playing at?

Have they said when this PUP payment ends.

I don't why get the government are so cautious opening up. Can they not put all schools back 1st March, 2 weeks later if no significant increase in cases/hospitalisations construction open. 2 weeks later if no significant increase in cases/hospitalisations lifting of 5km to county boundaries. If figures increase significantly during the easing, then we stay or go back, nobody can complain really as it'll show that we need more restrictions or cases will increase.

With vaccines rolling out at same time will mean we can have more social contacts and even more cases without significantly increase in hospitalisations and deaths.

Hospitalisations today dropped below the peak we had from the first wave in April last year, and are on a current trend downwards.

Has us about 8 weeks ahead of last years position going towards Summer and now with vaccines.

Be interesting if we start to drop between 100 and 200 cases at the end of this month. Could easily happen.

I presume we will be Level 4 at this date ?

Not according to tonight leaks from Leo and FG

Also schools and constructions are allowed open at level 5 so it would only mean going from level 5+ to level 5

    No change really

apparently if we continue to behave and remain locked inside doing nothing with our lives, if we are very, very lucky - the schools will open! can't wait!!

Not bringing back schools after mid term, especially Primary level is a disaster for Education. Young children can only engage with home schooling for so long, particularly as there’s zero to stimulate them or their cognitive skills at the moment. Groundhog Day with no social interaction, stuck within 5km looking at the same area for months on end will make it very difficult for this age group to continue to be educated in the home setting.
