SPACs

A separate thread for these investment vehicles

    Special Purpose Acquisition Company

I'm currently invested in two SPACs
CCIV , bought in at $16.43, sold at $24 then bought back at $21

FPAC Far Peak Acquisition Corp bought at $10.58

I'm watching a few more but I haven't had the time to research fully
    Alussa Energy Acquisition Corp. (ALUS)
    Fusion Acquisition Corp
    Greenrose Acquisition Corp

I was thinking we could pool our research. My aim is to trade these so i will sit on them until they run up, could be weeks, could be a year then sell before any announcements. As it is with CCIV I think the value of the SPAC could be worth more than the % of Lucid of the deal happens. So my strategy would be buy the rumour sell before the news

    Great info cronos, thanks!

    Thanks for the info cronos.

Have a few spacs myself, CCIV and few others.
Have not taken the plunge on PSTH yet. I saw the potential merger target but there is very little information from reliable sources. Have you ever found anything yourself?

Is anyone following VGAC? Looks an interesting one. I tried to get in at 14 last week and I still haven’t ruled it out.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 204 ✭✭Chuckie_Egg

Not looked at VGAC, I'm still a bit new to the spac scene so it'll take a while to get up to speed with them all.
CCIV and PSTH look very high now, with CCIV if the deal with lucid doesn't happen then its a big drop back down to $10. Idk how much more upside is in it, I'm thinking of pulling my funds out of it.
Remember Buffets 2 rules for investing.

Yes, that’s why I didn’t get into CCIV with nothing confirmed by either party. I just wasn’t prepared to take that risk myself!

    GreenVision Acquisition Corp
    GRNV

This one is making moves if you have after hours access. I have 1% of my portfolio in it but it looks like it could fly this evening. I'd have doubled down or more but can't access the after markets. They are merging with https://helbiz.com/

Always nice when "one of my less successful" SPAC's get's some joy. Let's see how far it runs.

Risky, but massive reward along with the reasonably high probability the CCIV deal gets done. My average is 17 so I'm happy to ride it to the end.

For PSTH it's hard to know what the deal is. If it's all hype for Stripe there will be large amounts of disappointment. Average here is 27 and will also be riding to the end.

Flying this morning also. Added to my watch list last night on the back of your post. I’ve probably missed the boat here but good work.

    Merger under investigation now though

That happens to every merger. It scared me the first time I saw it also though so I can understand it.

Are we too late to get into this one, and how come there was no run up on the price before the news?
Looking at INSU Acquisition Corp, the spac value rose nearly 100% over the 2 months following the Metromile news

I doubt it's as big a deal as Metromile. Probably does not warrant the rumours and coverage other bigger deals might get.

Hard to know where it will go to be honest. SPAC's are a bit of a law on to themselves sometimes.

Yes, I think you need to look into the company they are doing the acquisition on. Helbiz is focused on micro-mobility offering e-scooters, e-bikes etc as a rental in big cities.
The opportunity looks very interesting, as these are big in Asia and are a kinda norm there.

Does not look to be having much joy sadly. Almost all of my SPAC's are down today though.

Interesting merger a few days ago, with CM Life Sciences to merge with a company called Sema4

    https://www.businesswire.com/news/home/20210210005493/en/%C2%A0Sema4-a-Disruptive-AI-driven-Genomic-Clinical-Data-Platform-Company-to-Combine-with-CM-Life-Sciences-to-Accelerate-Growth

ARK bought 1.5 million shares yesterday. The price has doubled in the last few days.

Ark must have some amount of analysts, they are always ahead of the pack. Sometimes I think it would be just as easy to just Invest in Ark funds!!

CM Life Sciences up another 20% today. I think the fact Ark buy a sizable shareholding in a company in itself is enough to drive the price up.

What are peoples thoughts on $SNPR? Am a holder of CCIV and think the next logical investment is someone in the charger network that take advantage of the EV revolution , SBE (chargepoint) or Volta through the spac SNPR. Seem to have good contracts with Amazon Fresh, Giant and Whole foods and their advertising screens on the chargers is their USP. They don’t have the network of Chargepoint but they are keenly priced compared to competitors atm...might be worth a punt me thinks..
Link below to Alex Cutler yt video on Volta- worth a look...

I would also consider HAAC. Currently at 13.71. Talk of it merging with Color Genomics and the price may jump overnight if announced. If anyone is in with BNGO they will see how this stock has gone up the last 6 weeks.

A potential battery SPAC; PDAC. I’ll be watching this closely tomorrow.

I’m getting FOMO with all these SPAC’s after not entering CCIV a few weeks back!

I got lucky with CCIV but feel the same about Argo and bitcoin. BNGO also.

Anyone on the look out for anything else tomorrow?

Anybody any strong opinions on the eVTOL area for investment. There are 2 interesting SPACs in this space at present.

Atlas Crest (ACIC) has already announced a merger with Archer Aviation. Archer have a 1 billion order from United Airlines already. Current share price is $13.56

A second merger in the pipeline is Reinvent Tech (RTP) merging with Joby Aviation, this hasn't been announced but most of the rumours are leading this way. Current price is $14.5.

Of the two Joby interest me more, their tech seems to be ahead of Archers. Both don't plan on being commercially operational until 2023/24 so there is definitely an element of a punt and some patience here but the rewards could be huge.

Nothing on the immediate radar, I bought some GreenVision Acquisition Corp on Friday @10.27 which I'm happy with as they are to merge with Helbiz which was announced over a week ago, it was at 11.40 then and has dropped back so now its trading at more or less the spac value.
I think if the CCIV deal happens then there will be a lot of money looking for new SPACs to invest in. Just have to find out where the herd is going to be and get there early!!

yep that's spacs but this is where the action is so for now this is the game to play!!
Must have a look at Joby..

Ajax 1 is the next big big spac for me.

A who's who of people involved. Nothing anywhere near announced yet so plenty time to run.

I'm in at 11. Bit pricey at the moment for me to go back in but any dips below 12 is good value i think
