I was briefly reading the info re back to school. I am back on the 22nd February. Apparently I am just to wear a mask....no gloves or plastic apron.
Students don’t need to wear masks but I think a few in my school will.

What do you want gloves and a plastic apron for? Appearance sake, because they is all it is. Gloves are no more hygienic that regularly washed and sanatised hands... And aprons? Are you in contact with much bodily fluids in school?

I know! Oh and leave the windows and doors open when you aren’t in the classroom!
Social distancing probably won’t be possible either with some of the students.
I said to my husband as soon as I come in I will have to jump in shower and change my clothes.

Why was my optician wearing an apron when I got my eyes tested? Are they in contact with bodily fluids??

I would assume it’s to protect clothes from the virus???

I thought the virus can last on surfaces and clothes etc?

Was there not a case of a student who got infected from a desk?

A plastic apron is pointless. It covers what... 30% of your clothes? If you are that concerned you need a full hazmat suit.

It is scientifically known covid can survive on various surfaces and materials including clothes

They said there was, but I have my doubts about that case.

Luke o Neill was talking about the virus on surfaces this week and said they have had difficulty growing the virus from samples on doors etc, the assumption being that it is dead virus and not capable of spreading.

So then it can survive on a plastic apron... Right? So what does wearing an apron do?

Anyway, if you are this worried you should probably go on sick leave from anxiety or stress.

There are a few comments from fellow teachers who are mortified. It does have a serious Waterford whisperers vibe, I often thought those articles couldn't possible be genuine.

I think your reaction to that piece would really depend on how much you resent teachers. Those with form will obviously have an issue with it.

    She is a hardworking lady.

The thing that stood out to me is that she must have went into teaching a bit later as I am younger than her and my salary is a good bit higher.

It said she took time out when the kids were young.

I've often thought the same about certain posters and their posting history.

The ignorance of the commentary is telling. I wonder how many of them post here too.

Has the option of teaching through July and August been discussed to make up for the lost time?

Presumably kids can be back at school by June, it would make sense to use that time to get things back on track.

You're in a very lucky situation so. Most aren't.

However, that didn't answer the question.
