Cheers carfan it's those ones I never thought of I'd like to see, keep them coming. I won't show her the Lexus as she'd probably want it, I'm not gone on the interior or the looks, something about the Lexus jeeps, I do like the cars and used to have an is220.
I was reading up on that RX450 and it seemingly does 40mpg @70mph that's respectable considering the engine size.
Was going to suggest the rx450 myself. Smooth machine that should be more reliable than anything else mentioned so going back a year or two shouldn’t matter. The below is 10k or so under your budget.

I believe the boot is a fair bit smaller than the q7/Touareg/x5 etc.

Can't warm to that lexus interior are they all that color, it's all going a bit pear shaped she'd like an xc60 now (I think she's forgotten why were changing) which isn't big enough for us so tried swinging her to get an id4 as it's a similar enough size, I could trade mine against it and go off and buy a cayenne she's having none of it.

Without stating the obvious...why not this? Pretty sure they're 400bhp, gigantic, comfy, nice looking.

That's what were changing from, well the D5 version.

Ah fair enough I thought it was the older one as you needed more space. Not many others would be bigger, certainly rules out the Lexus I would have thought.

My next suggestion would have been a Volvo XC90 as it hasn’t been mentioned but I see that’s what you’ve got, ha.

The Lexus comes in a dark interior and red in f sport as well but you seem to want more space than the xc90 so that should rule the Lexus out.

What we have is great for space and we fill it regularly I doubt the Lexus is any where near as spacious, haven't had a good look at one. It'll probably end up being one of the German models i'd say. Main priority is only seeing the dealer at service time.

A bit left field, and slightly over budget, but has ample space and the rarity factor is appealing.

Is the Volvo unreliable? They're lovely looking things IMO. Although they seem to have fairly horrific depreciation.

I would consider the Volvo best in class in that segment.

I’d love to give the XC90 a go, this one here is a beauty.

    https://www.karlgoodwinmotors.ie/used-cars/Volvo/XC90/T8-R/202102068766495/

Advertised the Tesla and said I’d let her go if I got a good price for her as I was never getting to drive it and was just sitting on the driveway. Got a €1k deposit for her yesterday so will be gone next week. I’ll be genuinely sad to let her go, but needed something bigger as we have another baby on the way in June.

Not sure what I’ll do next, kinda glad the garages are closed for a while as I want to just have 1 car for a while, really no point in running 2 cars at the moment. I’m thinking around July I’ll get something else, but I could just as easily see something I like and buy it!

XC90 has aged really well - six year old design but still possibly the one to buy. With the T8 engine there isn’t much better than it. They hold their value v well too, you won’t see even a high mileage diesel 6 year old under 30k

@digiman, Ah I was going to pm you about the performance, knew your thinking about selling it.

The Volvo ticks a lot of boxes it just isn't reliable from my experience, I can't recall having a car that needs repair so often, we just can't depend on it, really disappointed as it's a great car besides that, wouldn't buy another one regardless of what warranty was offered.

We nearly bought xc90 last year and if space was the ultimate priority probably would have. As a drivers car however it’s a league below Q7 and x5.
The g05 x5 is far superior to drive and ride in. Better engine, gearbox, adaptive air suspension etc. Infotainment also better by a mile too.
The Volvo aged really well but it is really only a winner if you need to use the third row frequently. Volvo due to be replaced in about 18 months I believe.
My wife insists on three rows as she uses the car on school runs going to training and would have extra kids. Ironically since we got the current x5 the third row has hardly been used thanks to covid.
Digiman look at x5 45e. Two people I know have gotten them this year and love them.

Likes to blow pipes off the engine, never the same one twice and never dealer related. Currently waiting 3 weeks for a repair that was already repaired. Dealer refusing to even order the parts as they can't agree a way forward with the dealer Volvo care made take it to when it broke down last. I'll be calling Volvo care Monday to truck it away again.

Can see why you’re moving on from it so.
Why would your wife have another Volvo after that ?

X45e is near the top of my list alright, etron is as well. I’m delighted to be going to buy again at some stage with no trade in, but not being able to buy from the UK is hugely disappointing. You basically have to buy something new now if you want a really good spec.

Colm Quinn has a load of X45e up for sale now, must be a bit easier to get now.

I don't know why she even suggested it (she did say your not to buy a cayenne first) as her question nearly every day is did Volvo call you yet. We're both tired of all the messing with what appears to us as the same fault as it has the same symptoms.

How did you fare out depreciation wise on the Tesla?
    did it sell quickly/

cheapest car I’ve ever owned for a year, under a €1k to run for the year including tax, insurance and electricity for 13,000km

Sold in a week, and done good I think. They don’t lose much value at all, helps when they increase the price of it thought after I had bought mine

    Have had 2 x XC90s.
First one had softwares issues (literally one of the first in the country so kinda understandable). 2nd one is rock solid. Biggest benefit no doubt is the 3rd row and all the bells and whistles you get...actually prefer it to Q7 and X5 purely on “room/space” (have been in all 3 for extended periods of time). Couple friends have the X5 and when we go on golf runs the XC90 is the preference (space, comfort). All get a kick out of the auto pilot gig.
