Well look what's popped up for sale again, the 440i:

42k this time, wasn't it advertised for not much more than that last year by the BMW in Waterford? 44k? It looks like depreciation rates drop alot slower between dealer forecourts than they do for the owners.

Didn't last long. It was 46k when for sale at bolands.

I'd say the previous owner took more than a 4k hit on it. Took Bolands along time to sell it. It's still taxed until May.

Those 4 series have aged badly IMO.

My wife owns one and they the GC is a great all rounder. Put the back seats down and it will swallow a huge load. I fit 4 17in alloys with tyres into the back of ours and it took them all lying flat with room to spare. With the right tyres eg not the Conti's that come from the factory, they drive brilliantly and are reasonably cheap to run.

    Ah yeah no doubt.
I just think the profile is dated as fnck now, it was never overly fresh IMO. There's a Sierra silouhette there IMO.
The 2 doors look great though.

I agree, not worth the money IMO. Think msport+ exterior still looks great but the interior is seriously dated, I couldn’t live with that.

Last owner did very little mileage on the car. I wonder why it’s been traded in again.
Lot of performance car for 40k which I’m sure is achievable. I disagree that the shape is dated. It won’t stay on the forecourt in Morrison's as long as it did in Bolands

Reading back through this thread when Walin was interested in that car last June, it had about 3k km on it so just over 7k km in about 6 or 7 months which isn't too bad given we have been in 2 lockdowns during that time. Bolands wanted 45k for it. I don't think these cars are every going to rack up huge mileage anyway, they are rarely bought for that. It would be interesting to know why it was sold given it's taxed till May or what was it traded in for. Not unusual for people who were in pretty secure jobs to suddenly find themselves out of work or in a less paid job the longer this pandemic goes on so the performance car is usually the first luxury to go.

Probably same reason why I put mine up for sale bazz initially, non usage. In 7 months I've put 6000 km on the clock too. It was going for €45,950 when I was interested in it. I may have said 45k in posts just for convenience.

Hi I'm looking into getting a 2019 Skoda Kodiaq sportline
On finance will be paying €755 a month. What is everyone's thoughts on finance? Is it worth it ?

Was also looking at Volkswagen Tiguan Rline

I'm going to be selling my current car privately. Money from that will pay for first 2 years of finance

A 2019 kodiaq sport line is a sound buy if it suits your needs but 10.8% is crazy.
You will get a better rate at the bank or credit union.

Anything over 720/month is too much on that borrowing. And you shouldn't have to shop around too much to better that unless your finance history is poor.

The deal looks sh1tty to me.
Over 9k interest in that deal.
755 is a hefty payment for a used car and for 5 years.
A few years down the line when you are still paying 755 every month for what will then be a 6 year old car, you will wonder what you were thinking.
You have a valuable car to sell so thst surely takes the sting out of it but id still look for a deal with lower interest. You also say thst thr proceeds of car sale will pay the first 2 years as if to say that you intend to sit on that money and use it to pay monthly for this high interest loan - more sensible to borrow less and use the car money up front. That 9k interest needs to be reduced big time.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,922 ✭✭✭✭mickdw

You say your car is worth 2 years payments so taking that at face value, thats 18k.
If you put that in plus the 6k deposit and if you could achieve a slightly more sensible rate, you would have a monthly of around 370 or so with a total interest of little over 4k as opposed to 9k.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,606 ✭✭✭Buddy Bubs

OK, first of all...I think 42500 is too much for a 2019 kodiaq

Secondly, 10.8 is too high an interest rate.

I bet you could buy a new one with a low interest rate with same or less repayments than this one.

If you do go ahead, put your 18k from existing car in as deposit to keep the interest from that crazy rate down.

€755 is a mortgage payment for a lot of people. Absolutely nuts money, a CU loan at 7% would be far cheaper. Assuming you ut the 18k with you 6k deposit, and financed the remainder, you'd be under 400 PM.

Spec up a new Seat terraco on their website and see how that compares PM on HP. They start at around 38k before discounts.

I agree. While paying 755 per month for a 2 year old car is one thing, paying 755 a month 4 or 5 years down the line for 6 and 7 year old car is going to get very tiresome very quickly.
As soon as the shine is gone off it you will resent the payment. I bet it will be quite a while before there's any equity in it as I think its priced fairly strong.

Walk away from that deal and quick... there’s plenty more Kodiaq’s in the sea. That rate from a loan shark?!

Sounds like bluestone or first auto finance. High rates, everyone qualifies.

Thanks for the advice. I wont be going for it just came across it but dont no much about hp & pcp, I know It all depends on the car and model but what would be a good rate to pay back each month?

Is there anywhere I can learn more about car finance anything on YouTube even? I never got a car on finance before always bought I straight, only got one credit union loan before and that was for my first car which was paid off on time no bad credit.

It was bluestone actually your right. What companies
would be the best to go to ?

    Ask here, people will help.
Skoda are 3.9% on the kodiaq for a new car but offer 0% on models they might need a bit of a sweetener to shift, models out a while etc...
Used cars you're probably looking at 4.9 to 5.9% from volkswagen bank (Skoda are part of vw group)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,714 ✭✭✭Wildly Boaring

    The terraco at 2.9%

Was it a used car dealership so and not a Skoda garage? Look at bank loans as opposed to motor finance.

And honestly, if you've 18k or 24k to put into a deal and you're looking at nearly new kodiaq for over 40k you're as well off to look at new ones or demo models from main dealers. Funny enough with lower finance and newer reg for resale you might do better in long run

€755 a month to drive a Skoda crossover :pac: that can't be right. You'd need examined to go for that
