exactly people don't realize that there will now always be an argument to lock down or live with restrictions indefinitely. there's the chance that a mutant strain could come along in 10 months or 50 years down the road so do we stay locked down just in case?

I'm thinking the masks and SD will never go now

Scared sheep......can't fathom how we ended up here. It is truly terrifying.

Went out for a walk earlier. Saw 3 residents screaming at a poor man in an ice cream van.

They were screaming at him to “Get the f*ck out of here “ and on the verge of damaging his van.

They don’t want him in the estate because of Covid. Pathetic. Poor man just trying to sell a few ice creams during winter of all times.

This illness has brought out the worst in so many. I was lost for words... an ice cream van!

Are you sure they didn't want him there because of Covid? :D
A lot of ice cream vans have a 2nd, more profitable, line of business.

Tbh I'm not sure how widespread it is, but the fact that at least 1 guy has been convicted over it, would leave me to believe that there are a lot more at it.

    Just thrashing it out

    What about masks then

I personally cant stand any of it , but with the variants etc. im beginning to think some restrictions will remain on the cards or come and go

The more people move, the more the virus spreads, the more people catch it, the more people go into hospital, the more end up in ICU, the more people die.

    That's all indisputable.

What some are suggesting is we should be sacrificing more people so restrictions can be eased.

The more cars on the road, the more people crash, more people crash, more die.
    Let's ban cars.
We can have a zero road death Ireland, if we just ban all cars from the island.

Do we not do this? Are we sacrificing peoples lives for the convenience of driving?

I'm pretty sure Leo said on primetime that they couldn't rule out restrictions on some level even after vaccine induced herd immunity, due to possible variants or some other bull**** reason.

The N20 Cork Limerick road is one example of a cost being put on people’s lives.

It’s claimed countless lives over the years but still exists

Yet, when it comes to Covid, lives are priceless.

    Airplanes too

We could literally wipe out plane crashes overnite

i suppose you just leave it up to people themselves as it i only wear a mask going into a shop never outdoors on a street. i will prob not bother with one in a shop once june/july comes in.

    Christ this absolute drivel.... again.....
Is there a contagious disease which causes car crashes?

Would we endure masks at concerts and theatres etc. forever?

    I wonder

No, but similar to Covid, car crashes are not always within victim’s control.

    Someone can crash into anyone.

So for those under 50, what’s the risk figures for daily life as opposed to Covid

You really have a hard time following some of these posts. Read it again, it's a step by step.

We know for a fact that we can stop 100% of car crash deaths by removing all cars from the island of Ireland. That's a car I'm talking about, not a disease - stay with me.

The question is why don't we do it?

Would it be that life at all times comes with an accepted level of risk? Why have we not locked down cars this whole time? We're letting people die!

There is no need for personal insults.

I will not be engaging with you further.

    No
    You can just stop there.

There isn't a contagious disease which causes car crashes. It's the definition of a false equivalence.

Wow, what happened in the last few hours.

Thread has jumped head-first into full-on sheeple toting tin foil hattery complete with exponentially spreading car crashes, highly contagious plane crashes, permanent lockdowns and triple facemasks.

The contagious disease in question is deadly to a very specific demographic

Usually those near end of life

Not the demographic at risk from road accident’s

Faux outrage after a few glasses of Pino?

We won’t rise to that Graham!

Cancel culture is perhaps more evident during Covid than ever before.

If one doesn’t agree with something it never happened

I don't think you understand what cancel culture is.

Gigs '24 - Ben Ottewell and Ian Ball (Gomez), The Jesus & Mary Chain, The Smashing Pumpkins/Weezer, Pearl Jam, Green Day, Stendhal Festival, Forest Fest, Electric Picnic, Pixies, Ride, Therapy?, Public Service Broadcasting, IDLES, And So I Watch You From Afar

Gigs '25 - Spiritualized, Supergrass, Stendhal Festival, Forest Fest, Queens of the Stone Age, Electric Picnic, Vantastival, Getdown Services, And So I Watch You From Afar

To be honest I might not.

I was trying to sound relevant

Does it not mean trying to silence debate?

If not I’ll accept I’m past it

Ohh Fintan, I am sorry if it came across as outraged.

I actually think its hilarious. About as far removed from reality as you can actually get but hilarious none the less.

What would we do if there were no vaccines for covid?

Presumably proper masks and distancing where possible and just get on with it

    Extra ICU beds
