Clearly it was deemed necessary. Was there any other legitimate reason to keep people in lockdown?. Do people really think the government wanted people to suffer for absolutely no reason? That is a genuine question.

That's the question why was if necessary here and not the rest of Europe, nphet had too much power, they still do.

Went out for a walk earlier. Saw 3 residents screaming at a poor man in an ice cream van.

They were screaming at him to “Get the f*ck out of here “ and on the verge of damaging his van.

They don’t want him in the estate because of Covid. Pathetic. Poor man just trying to sell a few ice creams during winter of all times.

This illness has brought out the worst in so many. I was lost for words... an ice cream van!

bad, but not as bad as this asylum being run by overpaid lunatics, who dont have the experience of running an ice cream van and that is the truth!

Summer 2021 in Ireland here we come. The permanently outraged, the social media video posts, the ‘I’ve a right to be here so no one else does’ brigade.

    https://twitter.com/declanvarley/status/1358061872805785601?s=21

Poor Frank & Una on Joe Duffy - at least the mask slipped on a lot of the outraged callers. People actually think they’ve a right to ‘police’ others actions.

declan should find a better hobby the only thing he's missing is a profile picture of him wearing a mask so we can all see he's a good person

Were those dickheads standing 2m away from the ice cream van and wearing masks when they were spewing their nonsense?

It may well turn out that the only place these cratur's will feel safe in,going forward,is a 21st century version of a "County Home"

Tony is worried that the level of reduction will become “stuck” and thus delay reopening.

Can’t see much change happening on March 5th with those utterings

Really surprised anyone thinks there will be any significant change unless there is a significant drop in case numbers.

A significant cohort of our population have lost all sense of confidence, most importantly,in Themselves.

Right across society, from youngest to oldest,we may well yet come to regard this as the beginnings of a 'Lost Generation',which will impact upon the Country long into the future. :(

We're pushing the limits at the moment with many peoples mental health

I see a lot of bizarre behavior on the streets, people obviously struggling with mental health

    Others suffering indoors in silence

    Completely agree.

With the amount of mental health professionals in this thread, there shouldn't be any problem finding adequate care for the population.

You talk about hysteria in response to a post about a 'lost generation'...?!

Conservative govt conservative people, weak opposition, no media. Ireland has a history of this just look at the scandals and church state collusion throughout our history.

Michael called National Sovereignty backwards thinking that he wants no part of. Neither FF/FG are Conservative by any stretch of the imagination. They gladly sold their souls to the EU for a few sheckles.

Early morning walk during the week, lady coming towards me with mask on. She stepped out onto the road, turned sideways to look away from me, crossed her hands in front of her and looked down, standing still. When I passed she carried on with her walk.

It was the same action that the drug dealers in grand theft auto do. Bizarre behaviour, poor lady has been scared stupid and would rather stand in the middle of the road rather than risk walking by someone. It's insane and I do feel a lot of sympathy for her, it's so wrong.

Are you talking about RTE media coverage ?

That’s more or less like admitting that lockdown doesn’t work but we’ll need to stay in lockdown anyways.

"Lockdowns have failed. So we need more Lockdowns." Holohan clearly is a 1 trick pony if he couldn't see too many lockdowns and having them last too long could cause numbers to plateau.

If the hospitals aren't being overwhelmed then by all rights we should be opening up.

Cancel culture is perhaps more evident during Covid than ever before.

But what about the mutant virus strains, we should stay locked down forever just in case.....

exactly people don't realize that there will now always be an argument to lock down or live with restrictions indefinitely. there's the chance that a mutant strain could come along in 10 months or 50 years down the road so do we stay locked down just in case?
