And now the Eagles have moved from wanting Kellen Moore to waiting or special teams coach at their head coach...

And they try and say they're not in our shadows.... Always's wanting out staff ;)

Here's a fun question... When was the last time anyone thought cowboys had a genuine shot at a superbowl

I think 2016 when Romo was slated to start the season and then got injured we had a shot.

Realistically our defence isn't close to good. Is less useful than a waterproof teabag... Until we start building up a defence with mentioning and rebuild oir offensive line were years away from being close.

McCarthy was never there prophet or messiah he was made out to be and has hindered them. His buddies screwed the pooch last year and unless he's careful and performs in 2021 he'll be out the door.

Don't worry we'll have the off-season and then the draft and then dallas will be overyhyped again by the start of the season for no real reason

Well I won't be ovehyping them and I know the people I talk to regularly won't either. I talk to a lot of people close to the team and media who report on them (I'm part of the UK fan club admin team) and they would agree the team is a long way off.

    Not with that defence

    Not with that coach

Tis just the media to be fair I'd imagine your relatively realistic about your chances but over the last 20 years or so that iv been watching the nfl I think there's been 2 maby 3 years at a stretch that theve even be in the picture. Jerry jones is am awful gm I think stephen looks better in fairness to him

Don't think Mike mccarthy is the man either to be honest although this was a particularly difficult year for first year head coaches

I've found the majority of the serious media assigned to teams to be pretty pessimistic in general (outside of some obvious cheerleaders who thinks the team does nothing wrong).

At the start of the 2019 season most of the 49ers media felt they were a long way off and were thinking making the playoffs would be a huge success. I feel they nearly see it as a badge of honour to go against the hype of the fans.

I think the coaching is what has really let the Cowboys down and looks to continue to waste a quite talented squad, though it is unclear how much the Jones' stick their nose into that aspect of the team.

Yep I'd always try and be reasonable. A division future is always possible in the east. Is being a consistent 10-12 have winning team every season that we need to get too.

You're not wrong, wasn't a fan of his appointment. And look Stefanski did well, Rivera win NFC east, so I don't buy the first year great coach thing.

Joneses don't stick their noses in as much and Will mcclay the de facto GM is very good at being that buffer. He drafts well when he's allowed too, Marinelli was a whore for putting his nose in and picking dross like Taco Charlton and Trysten Hill. But Garrett and McCarthy are poor and wasting the best years of multiple careers and it could get worse before it gets better.

Philip Rivers is retiring from football. I think he has a high school head coaching role lined up in his home state of Alabama.

Pity for him he didn’t get that Super Bowl, in an AFC conference era of a lot of exceptional QBs.

Puts the Colts in another hole at QB again.

Gotta pay for all them kids, suprised he didnt play another year or two. He's clearly still got it, but maybe that's how he wants to go out

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,246 ✭✭✭The_Honeybadger

Thought he could have given it another year, I wonder did the Colts indicate to him that they wouldn’t be bringing him back.

Great career, pity for him that he didn’t have more success with the Chargers

Yeah I think they did. I was watching GM Chris Ballard's end of season presser, and certainly he was giving the indication that he wanted Rivers back. Either way, it puts the Colts in the critical need group for a QB this offseason

They have gotten by with Brisset before and could do so again. I don't think he is the long term answer there but they aren't critical enough to need to overpay.

Yeah I could see a situation where they hold onto Brissett as a bridge QB or back-up and draft a replacement this year.

Can't wait for the....... "is Rivers a HOF QB ?" conversation....always gets feisty!

Someone mentioned that a Wentz rehabilitation project might start in Indianapolis (with Reich), but the contract situation would need to be worked out (and that does not seem possible)

Brissett was definitely serviceable, but with that roster, they have a chance to be really good the next few years if they can plug the QB gap.

Some interesting Free Agent QBs hitting the market this year,

    Dak Prescott
    Mitch Trubisky
    Jameis Winston
    Dwayne Haskins
    Ryan Fitzpatrick
    Andy Dalton
    Jacoby Brissett(!)
    Tyrod Taylor
    Cam Newton

then you may have a few tradeable QBs,

    Deshaun Watson
    Matt Ryan
    Gardiner Minshew
    Sam Darnold
    Matt Stafford
    Drew Lock

Yeah the Colts get a lot of Carson Wentz media coverage their way as Wentz's ideal landing spot. I don't see it to be honest. Ballard has a bit of a penchant for leadership and character guys, so I don't think he will take on the risk. It would be his first long term move at the QB position, I'd say he won't be comfortable with it. Likely draft is where he will make his move, though picking in the 20s is tricky.

This is the definition of QB purgatory. :( I suppose as a Colts were due a few years of this given we got Manning and Luck in consecutive eras.

What are the Jags thinking with making Baalke the GM. His handling of an excellent 9ers squad - both his drafting and relations with the HC - were utterly appalling.

I heard somewhere that reich didn't particularly like coaching Wentz apparently he was more.stubborrn and uncoachable than he likes. I could be wrong but I'm sure I read that somewhere

I'm struggling to think of a more toxic marriage than with him and Meyer. The leaks out of the Jags will be incredible

Yeah can't wait to see us ruin Lawrence's career😭. Maybe if we could create somewhere players want to play...

I would not be so sure on Dak hitting free agency, Cowboys can tag him again which I would expect.

On Mac Jones, the few far too early mock drafts don't have him going in the first round so you should be safe enough if Bill wants him at 15.

Good coach. From following Colts and their media interviews, he comes across as a very likeable kind of guy and you'd hear it from the players aswell. He is well respected in Indy

Being under Frank Reich, it will likely be a QB-friendly offense. Up-tempo, ball out quick, you know your typical west coast offense, plenty mesh concepts, pick routes, etc. We don't have an explosive offense here in Indy, but we have a good oline, strong running game, we control the football and are efficient enough. I get the feeling that's why the Eagles are taking Sirianni, Reich/Sirianni have done a great job maximizing Andrew Luck and Phillip Rivers' play, and of course Reich was the OC for Carson Wentz and Nick Foles during that Superbowl run.

I think yere front office still haven't gave up on Wentz and want to get a coach that they believe can get the best out of a QB.

I think Sirianni will make a good HC. He'll be well respected and is a smart offensive mind.
