Yes the Aldi steaks that come in the cardboard boxes are head and shoulders above any other supermarket steak. I prefer them to many butchers steaks too. They are very pricy, but absolutely excellent.

I used to completely agree but I've noticed their quality (Rib Eye and Striploin) have really declined over the last few months and I now go to Tesco for my steaks which are marginally more expensive but IMHO much much higher quality.

I think all the supermarkets do pretty good premium steaks, these days.

I've had good steaks from Dunnes, Tesco, Lidl and Aldi.

To be fair, Aldi were the first supermarket here to start selling decent steaks!

Correct and I'm a huge fan overall but increasingly I go to Tesco for steaks (and products I can't get in Aldi/Lidl) and to Lidl for a lot of our fruit and veg as I am sick of buying fresh (looking) veg from Aldi, even with the longest BB dates available, only to find some of it is already going/gone off or goes off / mouldy within 2-3 days.

I really feel that for a lot of their non Irish/UK grown fruit and veg Aldi Ireland are at the end of a long supply chain which bounces through the UK first leaving what lands here very close to the end of it's fresh life.

Hopefully one of Brexit's (few) dividends will be a re-routing of some supply chains so they are more direct. I'd happily pay a bit more for better quality / longer shelf life.

Irritatingly no feta at all available in Naas this morning just a gap on the shelf

Was my local Aldi and Dunnes today.

The spuddys 6 pack cheese and onion crisps are absolutely identical to tayto according to the tasters in my house !!

I found them horrible and greasy. Made my stomach sick after eating a packet.

None at all available in my local Tesco online the past few days either.

To Aldi though, I'm finding the Specially Selected Jalapeno relish is always low on stock, but that's probably because it's really good.

Sweet, but has a lovely kick from the jalapeno

Anyone know why the specially selected Mao Feng tea is never in stock. Haven't seen it in a couple of months but it's still on the ticket on the shelf.

And for some reason every so often they package up fillets in the sirloin wrapper, black box ones. So if one likes fillet yer getting it at great value.

First they came for the socialists...

None in my local last week, actually, and the space was filled - they had the beef dripping ones, but no good to me.

Hope they're not gone for good.

Ah thankfully they were restocked today - some folks on this thread thought they were a seasonal item, but hopefully they're here to stay!

Plenty of skin on fries in my local Aldi this evening :)

Has anyone seen the frozen buttermilk fish burgers lately? None of the flavours are in stock in mine - the normal spot just had fish fingers. Hope it's not a brexit casualty :(:(

I was told a good while ago by an Aldi employee that they were being discontinued. Thankfully they seem to have been misinformed.

Saw a few bits missing today.

The normal Mozarella is gone, cream cheese and the hummus of all varieties.

Wonder if it is a brexit issue how long before they are back

Noticed this myself over since the New Year. Usual staples for me are hummus and grated parmesan cheese which haven't been in stock for the past 2 weeks; a few other bits and pieces that I buy on an infrequent basis also missing.

The frozen Lemon & Parsley Yellowfin Sole (also the garlic flavour) are something I always pick up in Aldi.
Really handy to have in the freezer, and good value.
    I love them!

Normal Mozzarella and Cream Cheese were both available in a Galway Aldi yesterday. Missing were bacon lardons, hummus, continental cheese selection and a few more. Lentils were gone for a bit but have reappeared now.
Noticed that they have become quite good at hiding the gaps. Hopefully all supply issues will be sorted soon.

Anytime I buy the skin on fries in my local there always seems to be just 5 or 6 packets left in the freezer while all other chips are stocked to the brim. Which would indicate they are either a very good seller or else there is limited stocks of them.

One thing I havent seen for about 3 months now in Aldi is their jars of jalapeno peppers. They have been gone so long I was wondering if their shelf location changed so I asked a staff member and they just said they are out of stock, he didnt know if they have been discontinued. Had to get them from Dunnes instead where they were more than twice the price.

Does anyone know if aldi sell tahini (so I can make my own)?
