Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    What did it say?

Giving the timetable for the weekend and the zoom links

  • Registered Users Posts: 54 ✭✭Meg!

Guess so, not sure how I feel about giving the weekend to it to potentially not receive a place Monday

Did anyone get the email there not to share the timetable?!

Yeah I replied that we wouldn't be sharing if we knew what the story was

I feel the same, but I'm hoping this means we have passed and they just can't tell us until official results are out or something. It would be so harsh to take us out of the course again next week!

I’m wondering if they do already know given that not everyone waiting for results has received any information about provisional access

I’ve been wondering that myself. What a way to inform people that they have failed if true.

    Of course they know. Disgraceful.

Have many people not recieved the email. I feel real sorry for the people in the complete dark.

I don't like the idea of having to give up my weekend either im bringing my laptop to work with me tomorrow and will listen to lectures during the afternoon. While tipping away doing other bits.

I am, I had hoped maybe it was because I submitted the application and application fee so late that there was a delay with the processing but just have a bad feeling now.

Just even some sort of update would have been better than nothing.

I’m also completely in the dark. I knew one of my exams was “borderline” so I’m quite prepared to have to repeat. The not knowing is very annoying.

That would be an awful way for them to be dealing with it if true, and so unprofessional. I hope for everyone’s sake they are just disorganised and have left people out unintentionally. I can’t imagine why they couldn’t have prioritised and released our results earlier if they already knew them.

So it is now 10:30, lectures begin at 1 and still no word from Law Society, no reply to emails and phone calls are not being returned.

  • Registered Users Posts: 83 ✭✭Coopie

If they can release the results on Monday then the marking of the papers must be completed- why can’t they just release them today?

  • Registered Users Posts: 54 ✭✭Meg!

Are the results defo being released Monday? My email said they would be available the week of the 11th?

    Anyone hear back from them?

Is anyone who is waiting on results Thursday able to access their account on the fe1 results page?

Usually you can login and it shows your results from last sitting or just says nothing is available.

Mine doesn’t seem to be working and I’m afraid I won’t be able to access them on Thursday. I was wondering if anyone is having the same issue? I hope they haven’t messed up the access somehow because we were given a different username and password for the LS website as provisional access for PPC materials?

theres a nice bit on there but plenty of time to catch up..I'd focus in the legal research one as there is an mcq test due tomorrow and an assignment due the week after that. also very handy that the videos are able to be sped up to 1.25 or 1.5 speed

Does anyone think they knew we had passed that's why were allowed access "provisionally" to the PPC1?

  • Registered Users Posts: 44 Lelila

I passed my last one too. Yipee!
Am I correct in saying the fees we have to pay are €8,300 minus the €840 we sent in with the application?

I don't know. Were there others who had intended to start the PPC1 who weren't given provisional access?

no these are seperate amounts. I did not pay the 840 with my application and so I have to pay the application fee now of 840 and the normal fees of 8,300 the 840 was to "process" your application as far as I can see

Yes application was submitted and never received any phone call or email about provisional access and didn’t get the exams.

I also didn't pay any fees yet including the 840. I presume we will be contacted from someone in the PPC section soon with details on how to proceed with fees, get our ipads etc?

Or am I being too optimistic haha, maybe we need to reach out

I’m curious to know if there was anyone who was granted provisional access who subsequently failed the FE1?

I'm going to be making contact by email in the next day or so to confirm the situation and sending the money asap in order to prevent any delays.

They responded to me and said I will be forwarded the timetable shortly and will receive iPad once I have fully registered for the course i.e. returned the completed Form 3 & 4 A (we will send this with your Consent letters once we receive the FE1 pass letter) and paid your fees.

    Hi guys

Just wondering if I have all exams passed after the October 2021 sitting this year, would I still be able to apply for the December 2021 Hybrid?

    Thanks

Guys is anyone else struggling to catch up on all the material? I only got access to Moodle last week and feel swamped with all the tutorials we have to do by Friday.

For the Research Method case study under the Legal Research Module, has anyone found any relevant cases for the taser gun question, not finding any really relatable to the scenario!

I didnt find case law but I did find a news paper article.

I had Thursday and friday off this week so caught up nicely. Have my business law tutorial and conveyance tutorial covered.

Yes, me too! Surely they can't expect us to have it all caught up in one week? I was starting to read all the literature we're supposed to read, but have decided now to just concentrate on listening to the lectures & catch up on the reading later. Hopefully that will do for this week.

We can only do as much as we can do. TBH I dont think anyone whether there from week 1 or not will be fully prepared this weekend as we dont really what they want.

I have received an email from the LS about a Reflective Practice Group on one Tuesday a Month from 6pm to 7:30pm.
What are peoples opinions on things like this mid week. I assume most of us are working some if not all week. I personally would be lucky to be home for 6pm.

Regarding the Legal Research record, can anyone explain why in the 2 examples she gave us, one involved looking for case law and the other one didn't? How do we know if we should look for case law or not?

I'm glad to hear I am not the only one feeling this way! I still haven't received my Ipad or books so I am struggling with the tutorials! Hoping I get them tomorrow.

Yes I seen Articles online too but I wasn't sure whether to include them or not because there is no way of backing them up as a true source if that makes sense. You know how in the examples she double checked the Courts website/ Bailli to see if the cases contained the same facts etc as the ones she found in the book. Let me know what you think please.

    Thanks :)

I actually emailed Hilary wondering would I have all my course materials and ipad and so on for these tutorials I sent payment by post on Friday and she basically told me it would be next week anyway by the time mine arrived something about couriers to and from their offices, waiting for monies to clear and so on. I only started yesterday and am luckily in a very accommodating firm but it looks like doing course work full timeish ill only just have my lectures done and tutorials prepped properly on time.

I'm very glad to have it. I was kind of thrown in late as was waiting on results to get in but it being there means I could stay progressing straight away. Its still early yet but id already say the workload is strong enough especially where it is presumed that you would be working either full time or near to full time while doing it I'm lucky to have a very accommodating job that allows me to do PPC1 work on the clock if I have any quiet time but if you were working somewhere busy and expected to not look at your course until 6pm or weekends and were preparing fully for your tutorials which you kind of need to do to get the most out of the course and not fall behind. I imagine you could get burnt out very easily. but for me not being from or working in dublin I'm just glad I'm not commuting every day to do the standard PPC which I presume will be back by next year.

There are mandatory tutorials/lectures every second week on Fridays and Saturdays- those are usually two full days from approx 9/10am to 5pm each day. All on Zoom for the time being but if it weren’t for Covid one weekend a month would be on site.

Pre recorded lectures are also released which you watch back in your own time.

    keep truck'n. :)

    Hi,

I'm just wondering what the work is like? Are the tutorials just a discussion or do you have to prepare answers etc for each one? Is there many assignments involved? Any other info would be appreciated

    Thanks
