Nolan basically just saying "we can't make any determinations about if schools are safe because we don't have the data"

JFC WHAT IS THE POINT OF HIM I actually hate him like. He can pull the data out of his f'n ass any time he wants to say they're safe but then he just denies everything when OBVIOUSLY THEY ARE UNSAFE right now.

    Dublin numbers are crazy.

A lot of people living in crowded accommodation in Dublin and working in hospitality. I mentioned earlier: that flat I know with 7 people in it who all caught it off the one person who had to go to work in level 3

A lot of people think if you catch it or spread it it's your own fault, but none of them had a choice.

Maybe the hygiene standards in the years since have improved tbf.

Possibly, although standards were very high then too but to get someone to wash there hands after a trip to the jacks is still based on trust or not to pick their nose etc, but the low wages don’t seem to attract food hygiene experts to apply. Your average teenager working in McD’s hmmm...

    Very sad.

What shocks me in the story:
Windmill Healthcare confirmed that before Christmas, a number of members of staff had tested positive for Covid-19 as part of the fortnightly serial testing of workers.

What hope do the residents have if the staff are tested ever two weeks.

It seems that the HSE is telling everyone to stay at home until they find someone who is competent enough to devise a vaccine rollout plan.

The are currently doing the bare minimum while hoarding the doses.

A 20 plus year old IT system that served them well...ok.

I can confirm from personal experience that Fred Flintstone would find the IT systems of the HSE prehistoric

If you want a more accurate idea of today's cases look at the swabs numbers.

Doesn't mean much if 94% of cases in a weeks time date back to today.

Did you listen to what he said? To get that data he would need to run various lockdowns with different measures taken to establish the impact of different measures.

Did we get another 40K today? The current plan for this week is 20k - 17k homes and 3k hospitals. All eyes on EMA later for Moderna approval.

35k now this week to go to nursing homes and 20 hospitals

EMA approval pushed to Wednesday, committee work not completed today.

Then why were they saying schools were safe before hand?

    No they don't.
94 percent since the 29th Fergal Bowers clearly said that.

These guys on the news could do with a shake to wake them up.
It would put you to sleep listening to them.
Very poor communication and speaking skills ,
That Nolan is doing some stuttering and no sense at all

Sorry if it was posted earlier, did we get swab data for Sunday and today at any stage?

Is there any official reliable source of swab data that updates daily? I usually just see random tweets with it.

Donnelly the same, going on about being a dad with three small boys, i have heard him say this a hundred times in the last 24 hours, just make a decision, stop the insane waffling and going on about data, surely to God with 6000 cases tonight which are a backlog, it doesnt take a rocket scientist to figure out this is bad. He is such a puppet, always banging out the gov line. Every day they dither and have meetings, it is another day a family member dies or in a serious situation.

What we need now is a stricter lockdown and for people to actually all get on board with it to flatten the curve. If we can do that then our reward will be that we can open up again in March so we can all have a meaningful Cheltenham icon14.png

Swabs are around 900 less than cases.

Today's cases could be all backlog for all I know with today's swabs going into the backlog to be resolved alter.

I am using swabs as a proxy for cases at the moment.

People tend to look to politicians for scientific answers to these issues. :)
    Won't find them there.

I think we need to release all the threadbanned people back into this thread for a few days. I feel it's a bit unbalanced at present. ;)

I'm sure quite a few of them are still around, reincarnated.

We used up most of the doses from last week. We'll be doing at least 20,000 this week. How is that hoarding? Given the current concerns over supplies, not using them all up is not a bad plan.

I've seen worse. In Aldi Maynooth on saturday every single staff member at the tills had their mask around their chins. And the Tesco extra in Maynooth a fair few of the staff stocking the shelves had MOUTH visors only. Literally a thin piece of plastic a few inches from their mouth. Does absolutely nothing except make the wearer look like a complete bellend.

In Tesco Killarney over Christmas I did not see any staff wearing masks at the tills (behind the plexiglass). I believe it must be some kind of store policy?!

Much better mask wearing discipline at Dunnes, Aldi, Lidl, etc.
