Ffs, go with the 21 days recommendation, vaccine numbers are scarce, no point in making a balls of it.

All the praise for the IT staff implementing the fix. Based on the way Holohan and Nolan delivered the message and the fact that they cut off Woods who the question was directed at, there was some serious arse kicking going on over the Christmas

  • Think the issue would be with the sign language interpreter.

They could super impose onto the graphic.

some of the official comments about it gave me the impression that it can only handle triple digits and everyone is having to infer the fourth digit or add it on to the print-outs afterwards with a marker

Liam Woods of the HSE says we have 287 ICU beds - the target by the end of the year is 321.

That would be smack bang in the middle of projected ICU figures in the worst case scenario.

You would have thought they would be already increasing icu beds

They'll have to upgrade from windows vista to do that.

Why isn't Paul Reid the €300,000 a year CEO of the HSE on TV with these people?

Tears of joy, good to know... not sure what it has to do with non delivery of vaccine to a nursing home.

It would be interesting to see what the system is tbh.
It can't surely be something as stupid as the UK system relying on a single excel file....which hit the row limit...surely?

In a way I am glad I didn't take that job in the department of health....

I don't think he is on NPHET. He has been involved in HSE press briefings.

at least future experts will be able to use christmas 2020 as evidence of needing to cancel christmas if anything like this happens again.

150/200 cases up to over 6,000. unreal surge

Apart from staying home and reducing contacts as much as possible, is there something we can do? Like, apart from trying not to catch or spread the virus or incur any other injury

    Laughable alright

    Why aren't they wearing masks?

94% of today's cases go back to the 28th of December

Some people think its smart to go socialising during a pandemic while waiting to get a test result. That happened multiple times for christmas.

Yeah you should have realised ignoring the pandemic doesnt work but sure that'd be "hindsight".

We must all take personal responsibility for this latest outbreak.

Let’s rally together as we are all in this together.

Be kind to the Government. They are incredible.

Wonder how many were vaccinated today, a total of 80k vaccines have now been received as of today.
Did we get another 40K today? The current plan for this week is 20k - 17k homes and 3k hospitals. All eyes on EMA later for Moderna approval.

Are you not disinfecting your groceries? Not even joking. I'm not going to get a tumour because I washed a tetra-pack with soap and water

I am so fed up with it. I know someone who bought a UV lamp for 50 quid so she can zap hers

I was disinfecting groceries back in March but gave up after a while. I have not seen a single story anywhere about someone getting it off groceries.

Crazy stuff was thinking this earlier.
"Mr Reid warned people to note that what they do today is important, and urged people to stay at home and reduce their contacts."

"Mr Reid said they are seeing a massive multiplier effect with rapidly growing cases, positivity rates and increased contacts, adding that transmission rates are far above any projections."

And Mr Reid will go to the presser this evening along with a load of journalists, sign language personnel, video camera staff etc. etc. and indulge in an hour of unnecessary contact of all these people instead of making a statement and allowing journos to call in questions as necessary.

Sorry to bang on about this, but seriously.

Need to get a move on with it now. Maybe they will give half a lifejacket to people (UK one dose)!

While they're asleep, board up your neighbours' doors and windows so they can't get out
