The government who ignored NPHET's advice in December.

The government is free to ignore any and all advice given to them. I know some are confused but the government runs the country not Nphet. Nphet has only one focus the government has multiple considerations.

Any idea how many Nurses/doctors have refused the vaccine? The Flu vaccine has always had a low uptake by them in the past?

I do follow the guidelines. Can you tell me where I'll get money if I give up with work? Because I'm not entitled to claim the dole if I leave my job.

Contact the HSA and inform them that your workplace is not safe. Or explain the situation and seek their advice.

Masks do the job when on. Other scenarios in action. And as was said from the start, masks are not silver bullet, just part of it. And when u see 4 lads in one car even with masks on..oh well

Yeah and without masks we would have the flu as well

There is nothing stopping you quitting your job, although if you want money to live on I wouldn’t advise it.

And all the construction workers going back to work tomorrow.

All trades like construction, plumbers, mechanics etc are probably back tomorrow. From my experience with garages keeping with restrictions aren't exactly priority. From the outside its looks great with signs, sanitizer etc but staff are fairly careless among each other

And look where that got them.

We're in a very bad position now and I don't think you understand that.

Perfect, I wonder how many times this was said before and nphet still gets the blame.

Why can't you claim dole, go out sick. I mean you expect thousands of people to stop working but when it comes to you you can't. Listen I don't mean to single you out but posters are saying shut everything down and not taking into account its peoples jobs and families that are affected just like yours.

Both during the period where hospitality and retail had reopened. What is being read wrong exactly?

Read the title. Too far. Not support. In October when Leo defied NPHET'S insufficient rose. End of December insufficient rose. While too extreme has remained low. Restrictions are not unpopular with the public.

That is not true. There is an 85% uptake overall, with the uptake by the doctors in the high 90s

We surely don't need to be instructed now. Be the adult in the room and do what is instinctively necessary now.

Its currently an expression of interest where I work so you sign up and get an appointment, get your vaccine and done. Not the same as the flu jab. But that is due to the quantity available at the moment. So in effect no one has refused it!

Get a Gp consultation. It will be done over the phone. Explain your situation to your doc, that you are very anxious about your safety and feeling under the weather, ask for a sick cert. If granted send to your manager.

Don't think he expects thousands people out of job, he expects people following simple guidelines. That would at the end lower the amount of people out of jobs.

I think you have completely misunderstood what you shared.

On 7 December 63% found the restrictions imposed by government to be appropriate and 12% even found them to still be too extreme. That's 75% happy with hospitality and retail being open (12% of that 75% wanted even further relaxations). A week later on 14 December a similar result occurred.

That is what you shared. I have no idea where that data came from, but it is set out in black and white on the graph you shared.

I can tell you now that shopping was the cause of this. Shopping! for crap and pyjamas in crowded places.

Followed by the Chrimbo with the Mammy and a hundred others.

And the pre Chrimbo eats and drinks with friends.

It all adds up. I am a sad person, I did none of this. But am happy that I (polishing halo lol) did my best NOT to contribute to the rise in numbers.

Ahem, if only everyone was as virtuous as me, we would be fine wouldn't we? (lighthearted before I get lamped)

You missed something, and at this stage, it's beyond annoying me.

Have a look at the counties with high numbers of cases that are not border related?

Dublin, Cork and Mayo. Now tell me which counties won GAA competitions a couple of weeks back? Strange that (NOT!)

Sorry, but at this stage, GAA competions should be shut down until this pandemic is under control, and not allowed to restart any time soon, there's been too many examples of people that cannot control themselves after their team win something. If there's no match to celebrate, there's no excuse for a house party.

Shore, if it was easy, everybody would be doin it.😁

I think in we've learnt anything in like last year is that we can't rely on people to do the right thing

The schools closed two weeks ago.

When do you expect to see the related reduction in cases?

This is the worst I've seen covid present yet. Back during March was nothing compared to now.

The amount of obvious and very sick patients we're getting is next level compared to last year.

It's quite frightening. And people are so used to it at this stage, nobody seems to care. It's truly is the "new normal". People are being so casual about it. It reminds me of England back during the initial outbreak.

The labs can't cope. We're hemorrhaging staff.

We had 1 ambulance for a one of the top 15 largest counties the other night.

Please be careful. Nows is not the time to be busting into the shops. Nows not the time to be visiting family and friends for drinks at home. People really don't give a flying fck at the moment. MM is an perpetually absent disgrace and I'm so angry at how this **** show is going thanks how the entire country and goverment let their guard down over christmas.

This is how I am feeling. + 100

I've been doing anything and everything I can not to catch covid. What can I do when I have to go into work and mix with people? It's causing me a huge amount of anxiety seeing and mixing with so much people who doesn't care.

Can you get a sick cert ?

Agreed, as long as horse racing and betting is included also.

I think he is talking about a club championship win in Cork. Happened in several counties when clubs won for the first time in a while.
Fairly localised outbreaks when numbers were low.

What are they doing in the Hyacinth House?
