Interesting, Canada will require air travellers aged five and above to test negative for Covid-19 before arrival, starting 7 January.

And that is what Ireland and other countries should have done months ago. I can (somewhat) understand it couldn't be organised early on because of testing capacity, but there is no excuse for not sorting it out over the summer.

Had to go into Accident and emergency last night in limerick with the young one, just a precaution, she is fine. The place was empty, I was in and out in 40 minutes. Last time I was there I had to wait 10 hours with the father. I'm not trying to point score or prove any points, just for people out there that are worried tonight, hospitals are still well on top of things.

You still don’t get it. The seeds are planted now that in a few weeks we will have between 700-1000 people in hospital just with COVID. That’s beds taken out of the system. That’s not just wards, that’s many floors in Irish hospitals

To all those I annoyed apologies, to those I didn’t I may yet. Anyway it’s a place to share ideas and opinions some not always pleasing or interesting but all I wish to say is have a good new year all of you , I wish you happiness and health and remember better times ahead.
Time for a beer and a glass of bubbly.

Agree wholeheartedly. No matter what viewpoint you hold, we've all been under a tremendous amount of strain to one extent or another this year past. Let's hope for better times ahead, and to be kind to one another.

I specifically said right now in my post, people said the same in October, all the posts saying only 2 weeks from being overwhelmed. We are in lockdown, numbers will drop, our hospitals will survive.

With the IT system we have in use, I wouldn't bet against it.

Hits home how selfless HCW's are. A deadly pandemic and they still go into work. If it was me, I'd be stuck at home away from the danger, I wouldn't have that bravery.

People, is there a post for people who have symptoms or have tested positive? Got a test today as have severe back, musle, joint pain and partner has more severe 'flu' symptoms.

My New Year's resolution 10 years ago was to quit smoking. Did that. This year's one was to quit drinking. Scrap that. I'm quitting corona news for the month of January. Happy New Year everyone.

Check HSE website. Sounds like you need to ring GP though.

Staines and Killeen already out with the doom and gloom. Fourth wave on the way and it's going to be the worst. No normality for majority of 2021, maybe around October if we're lucky. Still advocating full lockdown.

Fourth? Jesus Christ, we're not even anywhere close to peak of third, they really need to read the room...
