Dodgy quote from Frozen would have lightened things a bit

"...the Covid never bothered me anyway"

    It will be tough.
The outdoors is great for people's mental health.
    Especially during winter.

    you can still go outside...

I don't get it - surely going to an empty beach is 100% safe and safer than going to the nearest essential shop. Why would you stop?

Because it won't be empty because everyone else will have the same idea

I go to a beach too , an empty beach but I wont be going now because we all have to bloody try to get the numbers down
My preference is not important now

What's the problem if you go on your own, who will you infect?

And if you travel 10kms from your house and meet no-one what's the problem? I have a hike planned for 1 January, 80kms from my house. How am I spreading covid ?

Do you know what Meehall Martin can do ?

Same as myself common sense should prevail.

There's no risk of us spreading it to anyone when we go out on our own.

Why even say what your intentions are, surely you could guess the responses you would receive before you hit send?

Won’t matter to me I’ve had my two outings bar the supermarket for the year in a funeral in the middle of December and I had Christmas dinner with my parents and brother. I’ll have no issue not having to celebrate New Years in a meaningful way. I’m not a fan of it anyway. Anyway, I’m sure the Taoiseach has the best intentions but his government have created more confusion than certainty with the shocking communication of the restrictions since July. Basically just stay the **** where you are for the month of January at least and go for a walk at times.

The problem with all of these restrictions is that so many people think they are some kind of special exception, or they think they're the only ones not abiding by them so it will be ok. And the amount of people who have only recently become obsessed with forest/ mountain walking is unprecedented. Before covid they all thought the mountains were a mural backdrop :)

I haven’t a beach within 5k but I’m lucky to have tickknock close, so that’ll help.

Thank you for posting the graphics every day. Can I ask when Loughlinstown hospital had its outbreak last month, where would its cases have fallen into the info that you process. Is it lumped in with St. Vincents or do they not release that info in the same way as its a smaller hospital.

They seem to only do the acute hospitals, smaller ones not listed in the HSE operations report. Loughlinstown not mentioned in trolley watch either.

Construction remains open? Nuts, if they want to do a lockdown, that's first to go. This isn't a lockdown really.

There's a lot worse they could be doing. Going for a walk up a mountain (or let's say a forest path) is one of the safest things to be doing, and good for your mental and physical health. No-one realistically can stay inside their homes for weeks on end, and we achieve a lot of harm reduction by steering people away from risky behaviours towards less-risky behaviours.

Yeah well if they could leave out the illegal parking, dumping etc that would also be fine. And, you can go outside without going to the mountains? Just a thought.

By ignoring the guidance from the actual experts, you are not exempt. Internet hard-men like yourself looking for attention, making up stories do nothing really but make you look pathetic.

Yes but shouldn't they be giving their advice to government on schools, they give advise on every other aspect.
HSE data suggest they are not big drivers and government policy is to keep them open. I agree with others about next week, it's to bring down the community spread so that fewer kids have it in tow when they go back.

Car being due to be serviced next week. Is that gone?

There is nothing wrong with it.

I don't live near the sea but, I enjoy travelling there and enjoy my walks up and down the strand, on my own. Have been doing them for years.

I see no harm in it or how I could possibly spread it/contract it

Yeah, I can walk 5km down the side of a main road.
    Great fun.

    Nonsense.

What a well thought out argument!

Did you see glendalough during the first lockdown?

The list of essential services under Lockdown level 5

    https://www.gov.ie/en/publication/c9158-essential-services/

Might explain why there is a LOT of traffic moving about in these new ''strict'' lockdowns.

No that’s open but car sales closed it seems,

Because I go to the beach or the woods for exercise.
    None are within 5km.

I would usually travel for exercise too but I can still take a walk or run within 5km if I want. It will become boring I'm sure but I'll do it.

    Is the beach carpark empty?
    Is the petrol station empty?
Is the AA van for when you breakdown empty?

You are only supposed to be leaving your house for essential reasons, the 5k for exercise is an exception to allow people about going stir crazy. Why take the piss and travel beyond it?

All the workers in close proximity. Offices with estimators and planners remain open. Admin staff. How can that stop the spread?

Experts have been known to be wrong too as I’m sure you’re aware. The government has a tough job they won’t please everyone all of the time and they shouldn’t even try.

Arah, get up the yard, the extent to which you can't accept that it was clearly silly to relax restrictions as we did is absolutely laughable.

The government shouldn't even try to please people? Well, they tried to please some people and now we're in a situation where everyone is pissed off. Maybe you regard that as an excellent job, I don't.

So folllowing from that, are they included in the daily hospitalisation figures.

But the restrictions have to apply to everyone surely? What makes you so important that they don't apply to you?
