You’ve half the cases in the Dublin region! Overflow happening there. Cork highest case count. It’s not good!

When did 444 become half of 1546?

Thanks for that, as a matter of interest why do they use a 5 day rolling average and not a 7 day one?

    Cos its generally worse?

They used use the seven day but switched

I seem to recall Tony sneering at the five day figure earlier in the year, however that may just be me being completely ****ed off with this crap today

Don't normally like your post's, but that was funny :pac:

How old are all these people going to hospital anyway and what physical state are they in

    People with comorbidities or healthy?

You think they just make it up for the craic?

The amount of people in this train of thought is staggering.

Im always saying that, like Tony Holohan is making it all up for the laugh...there are some amount of immature people on social media.

Probably because the 5 day roll number is worse for now.
It also allows NPHET to make more "swift" decisions.

Limerick high again today,is this from the all Ireland, our homecoming cousins or something else?

Combination of all the above id say

Something like 715 people in Limerick didn't show up for tests last week

So you can assume there are a fair few infected zombies amongst you

Doesn't alter the fact that they have to be treated.

And giving out about lockdown and restrictions as if Ireland was the only place on earth right now with some kind of measures put in place.

If it were up to me I’d cancel/close:
    All Team sports
    All non essential retail
    Religious services
    Gyms
Pubs/restaurants completely closed, except Indian takeaways
Off licence only sell lager, no wine or spirits.

Because I don’t like any of those things. I like going on long cycles so no limit on travel. Everything else I can deal with.

This is basically most arguments here without considering the nuances of each restriction.

So you can travel a billion km in your car and not see anyone, it’s safe! Well I can go to a pub and have 15 pints, if there’s no one else in the pub, it’s safe!

Someone should start a light-hearted thread on "Myself as Tony Holohan: my lockdown laws" :D

    Are you volunteering?

You could call it the " if I were the CMO" thread :D

No, I don’t think it’s made up, but the release of the numbers is well managed to backup Nphets strops, I mean advice.....
It’s like woah the numbers are huge, yes we must do what Nphet says. We’re not all idiots and can see this numerical management for what it is.

Go on then genius, for the "idiots"- what is this numerical management?

    Spell it out.

3112 cases in Ireland today and 20 deaths. Its all one country dont forget it.

Do you mean we are all the one island/land mass???

Hate to point out the obvious but Northern Ireland is a completely separate country to the Republic of Ireland.

He's not but there is also a political battle at the heart of this as well. NPHET do not like to be ignored. You can call people on social media names but mostly they are just tired of this and some have gone past breaking point. The CMO mentioned this would happen way back in March.

We did all that stuff in the early days of these threads. Should fat people, those with diabetes or asthma and those who are wrinkled even bother with seat belts?

Middle of this and someone complaining they can't go for a drive outside a 5km zone? Just do a few laps inside it, ffs. I read some of these posts with the mouth open.

Part of the wider Dublin region these days.......

Given the numbers/testing was a bit inconsistent over Christmas day and the weekend what is our 7 day average now. Might give a better idea of where we actually are.

Seven day average is 1063 cases per day. It was 1176 on October 21st a number that will likely be topped in the days ahead.

Ah I suppose it was going to get bad at some point especially around Christmas.

Ride it out for the next few weeks.

The Louth figures are more influenced by the border than Dublin.
