    But, this? :D

Are you familiar with Ben of the clan Gilroy? Google him if you're not.

There are some flights coming in I think, just not scheduled passenger flights.
I think small aircraft and business jets are still active between the two jurisdictions.

Ah he's not of that family where one of the sisters crashed a press conference earlier this year is he?

53K cases in UK today. Insane..

It's equiv of what, about 5k cases here? Not so dramatic when you think we will be posting 2k+ daily cases over next several days.

Of course our starting point is much more optimal.

Nope, ban in place until 31 December and probably will be extended well beyond.

Didn't they cancel the second test for close contacts recently due to the high demand for testing?

If they did testing isnt where it should be.

I don't know know why they did that when capacity shouldn't be an issue. Maybe it was to do with the workload of scheduling 2 tests per person and the issues of people only turning up for one test and not going back for the second.

Its probably better to have people turn up to their test at 5 days incubation than have a test on day 0 and not turn up on day 7.

Probably better not knowing. It won't be good whatever it is.

    Thank you for replying.

If we begin to close down aspects of society on the basis of social engineering the population rather than closing them down to stop the spread that is a mistake imo.

Even the phrase you used 'shock and awe' is a term from military psyops.

In fact it would probably be illegal to restrict businesses on the basis of false claims. (Note: I'm not saying that there would definitely be a case and a judge enforcing a verdict.)

It is not false claims. It is what (I think) will be needed now to be effective.

Some people read meaning into synchronicity.

Anyway, it seems that the media and government are blaming the recent increase in UK on the Kent variant, rather than pre-Christmas relaxing of restrictions.
I don't think the evidence is conclusive enough for that yet.

Are the likes of Enfer (major testing force) and NVRL actually running 24/7? Or is this more specifically about hospital labs?
The NVRL would. I dont know for sure about Enfer but they should be, or at least working extended working days, 8-8 for example.

We have known that for hours, question is whether we'll approach the 2000 mark and George Lee works himself into a frenzy of excitement.

Crazy they're not vaccinating their children or crazy that they are making that statement?

Statement is crazy. Would bet money that parents with science education have have higher vaccination rates of their children than average parents.

I think George would actually have a seizure if we had that many cases

I'm hearing from people in Dublin that they are finding it increasingly difficult to get a test, waiting a couple of days or more.

The fact that they've reduced the requirement for close contacts to be tested only once instead of twice seems to indicate that the system is under serious pressure.

It's worth keeping in mind though that the positivity rate will surely increase if close contacts now only need to be tested once. Or am I missing something?
