Now that Xmas is over, I nominate Tesco as winner of the seasonal booze bargain award.

Two slabs for €35 including the magical 500ml Guinness; 25% off 6 bottles of wine and some good spirits deals, particularly gin.

Their wine selection is pretty much the worst in Irish supermarkets (apart from Lidl) but they have a couple of ok bottles.

Waited nearly the whole year for the ROI Tesco to do the 25% off 6+ bottles despite Tesco NI having it on a few times .

Tesco wine selection is pretty good, I'd put it as good as any other supermarket before discount offers.

I'd expect the good deals to be finished by year end, best get whatever you need before New Years Day.

Anyone know when the €20 Smirnoff vodka in Dunnes ends?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,219 ✭✭✭✭Caranica

No Moet left in Mallow Tesco but Mumm was in the same offer so got two bottles of their Cordon Rouge for €50. They had another Champagne allegedly reduced from 39.95 to 20 but as I'm giving it to someone brand recognition is kind of important.

I saw 6 cans 500ml of Murphy’s on sale in Tesco for nearly €15, seems really expensive. I’m guessing it’s cause they are so rare. Is it ever on special offer?

What’s the best offer on Guinness atm? Need some for New Year’s Eve.

Saw Guinness 470ml in Dunnes this evening, 25 for slab iirc.
Better value in Tesco for proper cans @26.

No multi-buy discounts, meal-deal type offers or discounts lasting less than three days. Other types of discounts/promotions are still fair game.

I found the below quote, is it now certain that a slab of 500ml beer will cost minimum € 42.26 from Jan 11th?

"a bottle of spirits could not be sold for less than €21,
a bottle of wine could not be sold for less than €7, and
a pint of beer could not be sold for less than €2." from
    drugsandalcohol.ie

Haven't heard much about this in the media over the last couple of weeks - usually when there is a big change like this coming its plastered all over the papers ! Maybe I missed it though..

Anyway I don't think they are doing it in the north so as I said in previous posts ill head up to Jonesborough once every two months and stock up not paying anymore for booze.

Noticed on the Lidl app that there are vouchers available on a couple of wines, and Carlsberg.

    Carlsberg: 20 x 330ml for €10
    Cabernet Sauvignon: reduced to €3.89
SA Chenin Blanc: reduced to €3.59

No idea if the wines are any use
