Placed an order from a company in the UK and unfortunately the courier service is Hermes :( - the last update on their tracking system is the 5th of December saying ‘we’ve got your parcel’. This is an Xmas present and very worried at this stage it’s not going to arrive. They are impossible to get through to. Any advice on what I should do?

Im the same - no update since 5th Dec. Its a gift of shoes for my father. He wont be too upset if it doesnt arrive before Christmas. Its just annoying its being delivered with Hermes. Never heard anything good about them :(

I ordered a small item on Amazon Monday and it just arrived, they are lucky they are doing their own deliveries!

Ordered two small items from the Czech Republic last month. Supplier informed me that he posted on the 3rd November. He came back the next day with proof of postage and my correct address, according to Czech Post, item “left their jurisdiction” on the 11th November.
So I want to the local sorting office, they were very friendly, but didn’t want to see the Czech documents, couldn’t tell me what route the item may have taken, where it might be etc.etc..
All I got was, “There’s huge backlogs in Dublin ( I’m in Kildare) , don’t worry , it’ll probably arrive soon. Keep the faith.”
    Wonderful.

ordered something on amazon the night of the 12th Dec ...... it arrived this morning 16th. Can't see any problems with post. But I ordered something a few weeks ago which came from Spain, it got stuck in Liverpool for about a week. So perhaps the delays are in mainland europe before things arrive in Ireland.

I'd be expecting new items into the postal system should've peaked or be close to peaking at this point.

Hopefully they'll be able to work their way through the backlog before next Friday.

After two emails to DHL my parcel has now arrived in An Post sorting center in Laois. Praying that it can get here before Christmas but the worker I was chatting to on webchat said that it might be after Christmas :(

I'd still be fairly confident that your parcel will arrive before xmas.

What email address did you use? I have being going around in circles on the DHL website and cant find one, tried fill out a form but it was all in German, and it keeps adding sections every time i click submit.

    I used this: https://www.dhl.com/ie-en/home/our-divisions/parcel/private-customers/customer-service/contact.html

It's not great but it must have done something! I'm pretty confident my parcel will arrive before Christmas. Honestly i'm just relieved that it wasn't lost in Germany! That was starting to become my biggest concern, graphics cards aren't cheap!

Just because they say it has gone, doesn't mean it has. DHL, Austria Post, Spanish Post, USPS all say the same thing. Have a look and see how many flights are coming from Czech republic to Ireland. Probably none or very few. Even less trucks. Same with all of Europe at the moment. Mind you, An Post will drag their feet too an arrival, and not scan it until it suits them. In fairness, uits not their Jon to look up Czech shipments to Ireland, the sender should be doing that.

Not An Post, but I ordered an item off Amazon, with an approximate free delivery of Dec. 26th. I wanted it for christmas (a gift I'd forgotten). So I looked at the paid options, £6 would give it to me approximately by the 24th, or £7.50 would get it to me with next day delivery, or a full refund if it didn't arrive in time.

I wasn't here to accept the parcel, but a courier just delivered it today (ordered about 5am on Monday night/Tuesday morning - so about 30 hours or so). I'm very surprised. I expected, especially given the time of year, that I'd get it before Christmas, but wasn't actually anticipating they'd get it to me on the next working day.

I'm genuinely perplexed as to how that's even possible, given the situation at the moment (national post service crippled, covid restrictions, week before Christmas, etc).

Ordered a few items last week and from amazon as well and arrived today. Way due 21st. Items are only staying in dublin for 1 or 2 days depending on what time they arrive there.

My stuff is in Portlaoise sorting center rather than Dublin? Not sure if it's a good thing or a bad thing!

I ordered a skincare product from a website based in San Diego and was told that shipping would be 5-14 business days. I ordered it on Nov 23 and by Nov 28 it arrived in Dublin (according to the tracking). I still have not received the product and I contacted them the other day and they told me that because of the pandemic ir will take 14-28 days (this was not explained to me when checking out or in the order confirmation emails). I'm not used to purchasing online and I am wondering if this is normal. It has been sitting somewhere in Dublin for nearly 3 weeks now.

Again and again - think of going through security for a flight but the flight is delayed.

The "system" will show you have gone but if a flight is delayed, it won't show that.

Parcels are "checked in", but until space is available, they won't move any further.

Package just arrived at Dublin mail center, D12.. Any idea how long it takes to get down the country? Been waiting 6 days from the UK.

One order from a Dublin retailer posted 9th December and made it to 'Dublin Depot' the same day.....and hasn't moved since. On the flip side my Amazon orders are coming through via An Post a day or two early each time. Special mention to a Holland & Barrett order that I placed one evening around 7pm with next day delivery via An Post...was in my hand in Limerick around 10am.

Mod - I presume this is shipped via USPS, so I"ll move it into that thread. Have a look through some of the other posts and you will get a better understanding of what is happening. Nothing is normal at the moment in shipping.

    Wonderful.

If you have the Czech barcode just put it into An Post website as the tracking number. If it’s been scanned it will come up.

If the post from Cz is going through other EU countries en route it may be delayed there too. The post in a lot of planes is very screwed up at the moment. It took a friend of mine 3 weeks to get a letter from Spain to France for example.

I’ve an item purchased from Uk on 27th November. Royal Mail tracking says it was in Dublin on December 4th. Nothing since. It’s a Xmas present, getting a little anxious on it at this stage now

My parcel 'arrived at postal carrier's facility in Ireland' on the 10th Dec.
Contacted an post who have no record of it.
Anyone have any insights for me?
Is this usual and is it just sitting somewhere to process?

Probably sitting in a cage waiting to be scanned.

Thanks for that. Yeah a lot of people in a similar situation as me. It's still not our problem that there are delays in shipping so really we should be refunded shipping at least by the vendors. My product was 42 euro in total and 12 euro of that was shipping so it would nice to be even offered that back.

It's hardly their fault either . They should refund because COVID has caused a shortage in transportation?
