Is there any facilities still open in Dublin for people to go to self isolate of they have covid

Yes City West is still available if required.

    Would need to be referred

From what I've read the "mutation" being claimed in the UK isn't new at all and has been seen in multiple other countries.

There are a few media outlets over reacting but thats nothing new. Much like the mink strain a bit of research required to read past the headlines

I might sound elitist when I say this, but I can generally see through the BS, which Hancock relied on this evening for closing down London and surrounds apart from shopping lol.

I feel for those who cannot see through this BS. But it is a concern just the same for many, I wouldn't write it off just yet.

Thanks my missus has tested postive and is afraid of being around the kids

One other quick question can the HSE give you any detials of your close contact, as in when they got notfied of being a close contact themselves or when they actually tested, She trying to figure out when exactly she would have got it, but they never mentioned anything about when her close contact was tested, is that procedure or just because she never asked

The decision to bring in restrictions in London and surrounding areas were driven by an uptick in spread of the virus, nothing to do with the news of a new variant of the virus. And a good decision IMHO.

People are entitled to be freaked out a bit. There is little reassurance for the Pfizer sub 70d vaccine, and all the others. YET.

And now we have a mutation in SE England folks.

Another vaccine needed, need I say more. I know we have been reassured that the strain that will shut down London over Chrimbo and NY will be sorted with the current vaccines. And that is probably true, but people at this stage are quite jumpy.

No disrespect to your opinion there SE, but I think this is the wrong take.

The virus is obviously spreading due to increased social interactions due to lifting of restrictions.
We are in this wack a mole game for the next few months, It will take some time for the vaccine to be rolled out.

This type of variant has been observed before as far back as April.

Does this mean a cull of people on the south of England?

It's quite sad we seem to have learnt nothing from previous pandemics.

Indeed, the old "Good day to break bad news" thing maybe.

    We shall see.

We'll never have trials because our level of disease is so low. Trials for that are in the UK.

Its not a conspiracy, its just handy to mention a new strain and let the media do their thing. Inevitably any other bad news gets pushed further down the main pages.

They are lower here yes, but this vaccine would be for young healthy adults .
This is one I won't be signing up for , because I would be higher risk for a live attenuated virus , but it will have its place in that cohort or maybe even under 18s if they allow it , less traumatic .

Dry ice and vaccine storage freezers live on Claire Byrne next. (Not a parody). John Giles too who is apparently getting the vaccine tomorrow (wasn’t sure but he must live in England atm).

And a radio presenter who felt scared in his local pub, shocker. (Giving out about people going out for pints - while he himself admitted it’s the only two hours he could get out for without the kids. Hmm..)

You don't really need high levels for Phase 1 and 2 of a study, they're for safety, dosing, immune response. It's only Phase 3 where you'll look at efficacy.

Marty Miller on Claire Byrne ffs :D

What an absolute ****. Sorry but, Christ...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,476 ✭✭✭✭hotmail.com

Marty Miller shouldn't have bothered going out, he spent his 2 hours looking at everyone else and judging them.

It’s gas how all these people who are terrified when out shopping or drinking always seem to stay there. If you’re scared - leave. If you’re staying for another pint - you’re not scared.

Claire Byrne....Where do they get these people from?? Utter ****e.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,272 ✭✭✭MOR316

Imagine going into his local after that?

Said it since these threads began but, the lack of self awareness with some people is astonishing

Seems to have spent his two hours thinking how could he snitch and give out about people.

Why do these people that go and give out about everywhere not just leave or go home? You’re not forced to.
