15 today will be consequence of the increase in case growth in the over 80 age group. It's disheartening that the virus keeps finding pathways into places where the people vulnerable to the virus live in high density clusters. After this pandemic I wonder will the nursing home system fall out of favour. Surely living assisted individual housing units rather than communal dormitories is a more logical style of elderly living than this in case of another epidemic scenario in the future. I think it is also more dignified and independent but maybe it entails prohibitively increased cost of running the facility.

Of the 15 deaths, 10 occurred in December. No further information apart from that.

The way deaths are reported remain odd. Saturday, Sunday, Monday 1 death reported in those 3 days and today 15 reported.

Its just the way the notification process works.

Have to wait for the death to be registered which you've 3 months to do from day of death.

The high death rate is worrisome, I know most are from homes and hospitals but still having 15 deaths announced sounds bad, I suppose it makes it more sad that’s it Christmas.

The HSE and NPHET have a lot to answer for in not protecting the nursing homes
IMO they are directly responsible for dozens if not hundreds of deaths

I realise that, just find it odd that deaths get notified in gluts instead of spread out.

I had to sit through a full Bernard o Shea interview yesterday on the wireless.half an hour waffling sh1te and describing how funny he really is, which in fact he isn’t.
He describes himself now as Marty morrisseys apprentice.

What a tone deaf question to ask him about why he won’t be going out to restaurants over Christmas. F—k me, some people.....🙈

O'Shea reminds me of a really insecure smart ass in school who thinks he can makes friends if he can make you laugh, he always looks as he's watching to make sure you're laughing before he can relax a bit.

I agree 15 is very small in the grand scheme of things but it's good the country maintained a high standard of what's an acceptable level .
3000 deaths yesterday in USA probably brushed off as unremarkable by about half the population. Sad

We are still one of the lowest in Europe.

Why would a lockdown 3 be coming?

The UK had 20,000 new cases today.

    Pubs and restaurants still open.

They don’t wait for registration, just notification. This seems to go into backlog over the weekend but usually works itself out by Wednesday not Thursday

If you reverse the 2 sentences in bold it makes more sense
The British in General do not obey the regulations

They are also generally getting on with life without infection numbers and deaths being pushed in their face every day

High incidence in healthcare workers and older people (read nursing homes )
I wonder who is to blame for that
it must be the hospitality sector

Just because the deaths are not being pushed (more out of embarrassment and playing it down ) in their faces every day does not mean they are not happening

I think its important to keep people abreast of the numbers and deaths to try and prevent complacency.

I'd rather people were conscious of case numbers and deaths if it helps for people to take more care and keep those numbers low.

That sounds better to me than people being oblivious and deaths and infections being persistently high.

Anyway, I don't think what you're saying is true. Covid is always the biggest story in the British media, same as it is here - until this week when it became Brexit, again, the same as it is here.
