If you have nothing to do then please call dr.Marik - he is working in ICU, the article does refer him. Why would you need someone calling his native while nobody of them have no relation to the source?

HSE operations report 9/12 as of 8pm

202 Covid cases hospitalised - decrease from 210

ICU Covid cases 37 increase from 31
    Ventilated 21 - increase from 17
0 deaths in ICU last 24 hours

ICU case increases are in following hospitals

    Mater increase of 1
    Letterkenny increase of 2
    Navan increase of 1
    Waterford increase of 2
    Mullingar increase of 1

    Limerick decrease of 1

No change in number of Covid cases in ICU in St. Vincent’s despite earlier speculation/rumour.

    You are wrong.

I can understand why you'd think that though.

    Yeah I posted that.
They will be going back on Monday. It'll just be one week for them before Christmas holidays but it'll give them a chance to square everything away and it'll be just like normal going back after Christmas then.

Why is it ok to send them back on Monday but it wasn't ok in September when numbers were much lower ?

Both this main thread and the restrictions thread have been very quiet the last few days even around 5.30-7pm when the figures come out. Seems like posters and people in general are fed up and just getting on with life now.

The restrictions threads been dying off for a while now as since the vaccine the various anti-vax conspiracies now seem to be sent to the relevant forum.

It's not approved for COVID, due to a lack of clinical trials showing it to be effective. It's in the same bracket as hydroxychloroquine with people taking it based on anecdotes and random doctor claims.

    you clearly don't understand...

Pandemic is over because the guy who's looking for evidence to substantiate any COVID related claim, who's homeschooling because the risk is too high, who's advocating rolling lockdowns for all has declared based on one phone call that an animal health product that hasn't even made any of the approved trials yet as a therapy will heal all

Funny enough, just listening to the radio now it feels restrictions will be around for a long time yet. What struck me was the narrative seems to have shifted, and lifting of restrictions will now be based on who and how many people have been vaccinated rather than the current model of how the health service is coping.

Not a chance. The medics may want that but general population will push back. Once roll out starts, things will be eased quite quickly although pubs and nightclubs will have to wait. We will see risks from the U.K. experience.

Saying that "Ivermectin is used to treat river blindness" is like saying, "Chocolate is poisonous to dogs, therefore I can poison trees with it too".

River blindness is caused by a worm. Covid is caused by a virus.

*If* it worked, it would be purely coincidental and not because it's an anti-parasitic.

The only thing I found in relation to it was that a researcher put the active ingredient in Ivermectin into a test tube with Covid and it was effective at destroying the virus.

That's nice, but it's as useful as knowing that putting bleach in a test tube with covid will also kill the virus.

Translating that effect into a drug you can give to humans without injuring them is a whole other ball game.

The two are inextricably linked. More vaccinated people == less pressure on the health service.
It's actually a better metric, since what we have right now is retrospective. We can really only see how the health service is coping and make an educated guess as to what's coming down the line.

Whereas if we know who has been vaccinated, that educated guess gets a lot better and we can proactively plan what to expect. As we have seen, at the moment one nursing home or hospital outbreak and we see a spike in serious cases. That's impossible to plan for. But if there's 90% vaccine uptake in nursing homes and hospitals, the course of the infection becomes much more predictable.

The general population will do as they always have done and do as they are told.

3,260 new COVID deaths in the US yesterday. New record.

I expect swift and resolute action from the Trump administration any day now. :pac:

That's not the only thing to consider. Many vaccines or drugs work well in vitro but not in vivo.

Are we allowed to leave our county to do house viewings? My lease is up soon, and we need to start looking.
