Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Sbeast - Walking In The Air (Metal Cover) ; my nom and any version of Walking In The Air is great

Eels - Everything's Gonna Be Cool This Christmas ; both are good, but really like this one

Marilyn Monroe - Santa Baby ; even if it wasn't up against such a monstrosity, this'd get my vote

Twisted Sister - Oh Come All Ye Faithful ; rock covers of Christmas Carols are generally pretty good, and outside of a few exceptions the most bearable Christmas music

King's College Cambridge - Ding Dong Merrily on High
At the risk of revealing my secret identity, I sang this on TV on Christmas Day - not that recently

Judy Garland - Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas
    Marilyn Monroe - Santa Baby
Twisted Sister - Oh Come All Ye Faithful

Sbeast - Walking In The Air (Metal Cover)
Judy Garland - Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas
Marilyn Monroe - Santa Baby (I hate FONY and Ronan Keating - I think the opposition for me to vote for it would have to be Santa being beheaded)
Ike and Tina Turner: Merry Christmas Baby

M33 - I was 100% voting for walking in the air without even listening to the song. Just the title alone had my approval. But King's College Cambridge is just magnifico! I can imagine the atmosphere in the room with them singing that song. Very happy to choose that over one of my favourite songs
    M34 - Judy Garland
M35 - Marilyn Monroe (love this song, & not just voting for it so I don't have to vote for Ronan Keating)
    M36 - Ike and Tina

Children singing freaks me out... If this was Most Terrifying Song Ever it'd be in contention for me...

Ooh good call. I'll have to check that out ..

Edit: wowser Liz im digging that! Considering I sing this song whether its Halloween or June because I love it so much. If anyone ever questions why I'm singing a Christmas song at random throughout the year, I'll direct them to this version instead :)

Sbeast - Walking In The Air (Metal Cover) 5 8 King's College Cambridge - Ding Dong Merrily on High
Judy Garland - Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas 11 2 Eels -  Everything's Gonna Be Cool This Christmas
Ronan Keating and Moya Brennan - Fairytale of New York 1 13 Marilyn Monroe - Santa Baby
Ike and Tina Turner: Merry Christmas Baby 5 8 Twisted Sister - Oh Come All Ye Faithful

Ronan avoids the whitewash but it's sayonara anyways. Judy Garland advances to an interesting same song runoff....

Twisted Sister come back from 5-3 down to take the last tie and the boyos from King's College advance to Round 1 alongside them.

Rob Halford - O Holy Night ; almost as good Cartman's rendition

The Eagles - Please Come Home for Christmas ; me before hitting play, "didn't know Eagles had a Xmas song"... me after hitting play, "oh this one, of course I know this one."

Gwen Stefani feat. Blake Shelton - You Make It Feel Like Christmas ; this is very enjoyable, and I'm really not a fan of any of the Do They Know Its Christmases

Jeff Buckley - Hallelujah ; didn't know it was a Christmas song, but then again I don't actually care about Christmas, so whatever, it's a classic

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,034 ✭✭✭Ficheall

Joseph Mohr - Silent night (This is boring, but the alternative is ruining a classic)
The Eagles - Please Come Home for Christmas (I like the Eagles; this song is bleh, but..)
Gwen Stefani feat. Blake Shelton - You Make It Feel Like Christmas ('nuff said)
Billy Mack - Christmas Is All Around (Hallelujah is not a Christmas song, and the nominated cover versions are poor - Burke's version was a f*cking abomination).

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,661 ✭✭✭SineadSpears

M41 - Rob Halford (the first 30seconds I thought he was murdering the bloody song, then the guitar kicked in & that gave me a nudge to vote for it)
    M42 - The Eagles
    M43 - Band Aid
    M44 - Hallelujah without a doubt

I believe that's 3 of my 7 nominees (Blink-182, Guyz Nite, Savatage) through to Round 1, which is three more than I expected to get through.
