I've two issues with my fiesta mk6, and looking for a guide price as I really have no idea how much these will cost.

    1) Coolant leak. A quick Google (and a look under the car) tells me its from the thermostat housing which is common for the car. Need that replaced.

    2) Exhaust vibration. Again, a google shows up that it might be a loose heat shield. Seems that it might need a couple of new bolts or just to be tied up.

I dont want to spend too much money on this as the car is 14 years old. Any estimates as to what a mechanic should charge?

It is. Done the young lads car for him only a few weeks back. The rubber in the housing (2 of them) perish causing a bad leak.

I paid €25 for the thermostat housing and about €14 to €30 (depending on brand and quantity) for coolant as you need to replace the lost coolant. I also added the cost of a new thermostat (silly not to change it while i have the housing out) and that cost about a tenner.

No real price on this as it's a "what have i lying around" type of fix. I used tec screws on my young lads one. However if its something else like rubbers, again not a huge price (couple of euro each) and iirc there are 4 or 5 of them along the entire exhaust.

So €20 should cover you if its only a "tightening" up job.

    Unfortunately no.

TBH both jobs are doable yourself. The housing needs only a few tools, and even with no experience about an hour will sort you out.

If its a mechanic job then allowing for rates of €50 to €85 (utter guess btw on rates) per hour you could be looking at between €160 on the low side and €230+ on the high side.
