I always have to laugh when Sky play the canned applause after the players bend the knee. They know full well they're getting booed when the crowd come back :pac:

Wanna be brave booing your own players inside a stadium.

Son is too good at football.

A minutes applause in an empty stadium is weird

Queue'ing a meter apart outside an offie wearing a mask to buy a bottle of wine is weird too, but I suppose it is what it is!

Maybe a minutes silence works better in the current context, but I really like the idea of a minutes applause for former players. It feels more fitting.

    Not for me

I can see that opinions seem to be quite split on it, but I can't see anything other than:
-a player knocking it past another and it's there to recollect for him
    - and he gets a kick in the leg from the player he's just knocked it past.

I was really surprised it was recommended as an error by VAR.

I think of it this way - if the movement that touches the player is the same movement that allowed him to touch the ball first, it's not a foul/penalty. If however, he touches the ball as it passes, but makes a second movement that stops the player, thats a foul/penalty.

Easy to day after but Kane didn't need to be offside there. You'd think with Laporte, Rodri & Dias that City wouldn't be a bit better down their middle but Spurs are getting at them easily.

Gotta credit Jose for reinventing his entire approach to adapt to modern football requirements. Hasn't happened overnight but starting to see real signs of what hes trying to build and its exciting.

The worst kind of team for City to play against - a quick team that breaks fast in numbers. They consistently have real trouble dealing with that. Leicester have been causing them similar problems for years at this stage.

He gambled on receiving the first pass, which was instead passed to Son. Once it went to Son he had no chance of getting back onside again for the first-time cross.

This kicking the ball away and not being booked has me convinced the law was changed.

    Happens to frequently now

Lovely finish - especially from a CB!

Refined perhaps, Spurs in set up and approach are not unlike his Inter side with the CF and inverted wingers, 4 at the back. Use of a third midfield player that is not a traditional number 10 style is a reflection of that position almost vanishing from the best sides (although Ndombele is playing there at times). Hojbjerg is one of the most astute signings in some time. Counter attack is Jose ideal scenario.

Spurs defence there was terrible but right decision saves them

Thought the same. Disallowed for Handball by Jesus. But a cracking finish

that handball looked very much deliberate. when have they stopped being bookable?

I suppose you have to be fairly sure to double it up with a yellow... could argue the shape he made is the shape you expect a player to make when they're positioning themselves to chest the ball - arms out to the side with the elbow pointing down in a V, shoulders pushed back, chest pushed forward.

Walker no interest getting back there , goal came via his position.

Looks like 3 wins out of 8 games for City. That’s shockingly bad for the size & value of their squad.

    Don't hurt his feelings.

Im amazed that City haven't made a change as Torres, Mahrez, Jesus & Bernardo have offered nothing between them. Don't know what happened Bernardo Silva but I can't think of many players who've declined as much as he has the last 12-18 months.

Jose is gonna sicken a few lads this year I'd say

Spurs will win silverware this season

Not sure what yet but interesting times

Really think they'll at least get an FA Cup or League Cup.

Spurs next few fixtures will give a strong indication of how likely they are to challenge for the league

If he managed to win a trophy with the United team he had surely this Spurs team will get a couple of trophies

I've a feeling that was the key point of him taking this job. He got cups at Utd, but given what Utd are used to, it didn't really make as much of an impact.

But if he wins anything at Spurs, he'll be a hero. League Cup, FA Cup, Europa League, it doesn't matter - he'll be written into their history books if he picks one up. I think that's a very appealing thing for his ego.
