Apologies I thought the conversation was surrounding the retake

Nobody really disputing the retake. Overturning his own decision to give WBA a penalty and the award of the Man Utd penalty were very controversial though

The first instance the most relevant as unlikely the rest follows if West Broms pen isnt overturned.

They were both fairly obvious pens and ref gave them with no hesitation.

That's the point of VAR though. It affords refs the chance to analyse their decisions. For all the conspiracy theories I've seen spouted from certain sections of fans about this ref over the last few weeks, he gave the penalty in real time with no hesitation so that doesn't really mesh with him favouring United. He reviewed and felt he was wrong so changed his decision.

You saying there is a conspiracy going down?

remember when Fabinho clearly won the ball against Sheff Utd.

    it's incredible at this point.

Yeah his actual angle in real time was clearer than the one they showed him on VAR. I think you can often find 1 angle in 10 where it can be more ambiguous than others, I'm not sure why he was offered just the ambiguous one when they've clearly various angles. This goes for all VAR checks, refs dont seem to get to use enough footage to maximise their chances of getting it right.

Really good point there i can still see it been spun into a conspiracy.

The fact is bruno got his toe on the ball before the shins came together.

Exactly. The fact that he gave it originally should have been enough to ask for more than a single angle. We've had refs looking at VAR see a few different angles for penalty shouts and they take their time to make sure. Be interesting to hear what Scholes and Ferdinand think about it.

Every league wants the biggest team in it to do well, that's where the money is for them.

Well why do Liverpool the most successful team in the country keep getting screwed over then

Some good football coming up tomorrow too

Hopefully Leicester hammer the ****e out of Liverpool

Be nice to see some mad controversial VAR decision go against Liverpool too

I've only seen the WBA penalty incident now.

Can't see now that was reversed. Bruno doesn't win the ball, the ball doesn't even move. But there is clear contact on the shin of the WBA player and he goes down. The referee had a good angle and viewpoint of it on the field.

The BT ref thinks it was a penalty, so does Rio. Scholes doesn't know himself.

Ref correctly gives pen, VAR looks at obvious pen then sows seeds of doubt in refs head by asking him to look at it, Ref looks at vid but bottles it and reverses decision - what a ****show

This is exactly what happened in the Villa game earlier!

That’s madness from the ref to overturn his decision. You’d swear Fernandes had moved the ball 3 foot away from Gallagher. Gallagher still has control of that ball between his feet until he is kicked in the shin.

That could be the difference between PL and championship for West Brom next season.

Without Fernandes United would be completely fcked. He, along with De Gea, are the only consistent performers out of the entire team. I'd hate to be a United fan right now, barely scrapping a win out of West Brom at home, 9th in the league. It's a complete circus. Long may Ole reign.

For people who haven't seen it, this is the penalty incident.

I don't think there is any questions about the handball decision for the Man United penalty, or subsequent the retake. Although the BT guys are in agreement that there was a foul on a WBA player in the build up to it.

I missed the last few hours of any media. Logged on to check scores and....honest to God...I was expecting to see United scrape a win against a winless team in the relegation zone with the worst goal difference in the league through a Bruno Fernandes penalty with VAR shenanigans.

I'm not kidding my brain literally predicted that I'd open my scores app and see that. Spooky.

Check out the table of VAR decisions going for clubs and you’ll find Utd at the top and Liverpool near the bottom. Which of course is reverse of the actual table. Shocking decisions from VAR, had Fernandes been kicked like that he’d have rolled the whole way to the Stretford End!

Fernandes get the ball first then both players shins clash.

Glad I could help you out.

Spurs top of the table for the first time in 6 years that's a bit mad really.

Poch only had them top of the table once.

So what you are saying it that Utd get more decision's given against them by the referee that have to be corrected by VAR while Liverpool get very few.

Always thought the referees were against us but thanks for showing the proof.

Thank **** utd are **** or we all would be having a meltdown over these dodgy decisions if they actually meant something. We are getting upset enough as it is.

Since you have issues with basic grammar, I am not surprised you don’t understand how VAR works in the context of the comment I made.

    Pointless debating with you.

    Try not to get upset.

Just enjoy the game and chill out, not good for ones health to get so worked up.

They were top for two hours the week before the international break weren't they? Leicester won later that day and leapfrogged them.

Just going by MOTD which probably means the end of a match day not just for a couple of hours.

I really don't understand how people can be so salty about United getting a legitimate penalty for them and a penalty against them correctly disallowed.

Conspiracy theories, "Keep Ole in the job", potential meltdowns, referee is a United fan.

Yes United were shyte, yes they won 1-0, yes they're nowhere near title contenders but folks get so worked up about hating United and go out of their way it's embarassing. It looks like they hate the club more than they actually follow the football. It's sad and I don't really get it, maybe just me. Appreciate it works other ways too.
