Yeah I fear that was our chance but the Cult of COVID put a stop to that straight away. No one is going to put themselves out there again least of all Pseudo Taoiseach Martin.

The first soldier into battle often takes the biggest hit, but more will put their heads above the parapet. Mammy Martin made a fool of himself over the takeaway pints nonsense. His days as leader of FF could very easily come to an end.

Wow look at the comments, the fawning public is dwindling. It can be level 10 now but people rightly don't care and will get on with life.

    Once the herd starts moving...

Hook has more balls than everyone working at rte put together. Say whatever you want about him but at least he was able to go for the jugular, not pussyfoot like the majority of them do these days.

Leo tried it weeks ago and was lambasted.

Pro restrictions tend to be quiet enough while they have their lockdown utopia.

But once someone threatens to take it away, the hysteria begins.

They move back to “saving lives” lie.

I said it before that he has no business to be on twitter lecturing people.
He has no business being on TV twice a week telling people what policies he is going to be 'recommending' to government.
He has no business going on chat shows, at least not until this thing is over and he is talking about something other than the pandemic.
He has no business talking to the press and leaking recommendations in order to force them through.

He's an advisor to government and no more.

He, along with other member of NPHET has lost the run of himself and finally he is starting to pay for his omnipresence with public backlash.

He is being lambasted and rightly so. If you decide to put yourself out there, scewing with peoples lives then expect the consequences. If he actually reads the comments he may realise outisde the Nphet/RTE bubble there are a lot of knives out for him

His arrogance and sense of self-importance is making him lose the run of himself.

The whole point of his tweets and briefings is to try and force the (weak) Government's hand by having the discussion take place in the media and forums like this - knowing the hysteria and moralising that will ensue - BEFORE the cabinet meets, so that they'll bend to the "recommendations"

Micheal Martin is weak and only wanted to be Taoiseach. Leo is all about his ego and what he thinks will serve his personal profile. You'd miss the likes of CJH at times like this - can't imagine him handing over control to Dr Tony like the two lads have done.

Tony must be angling for a career in politics after this is over, its the only thing I can think of given his very public image. He has miles too much power, Leo tried to go up against him but failed, Martin has to be the quietest weakest leader I can remember and I thought Enda was about the worst.

Haughey would have sacked Holohan ages ago, I'm convinced of that. There is a lot to be said actually for strong, decisive leadership (for all his obvious flaws).

the mainstream media will probably label him a Gemma'O Doherty / rape sympathizer as was the charge alleged at him when he was ousted from radio.

Terrible that this line of questioning is now only found in what looks like underground resistance type vidoes..very weird stuff.

    good for him.

On the other hand though there's plenty of #thankyoutony sycophants out there who'd offer Holohan their daughters if they thought it'd impress 'the big man in charge '

FF for their own future need to ditch this dithering moraliser and put in someone with a bit of backbone and vision.

The problem is that there isn't really anyone fitting that description in the party, otherwise Micheal would already be done.

FG are no better. Many think Coveney is the great hope there, but that lad would be even more dangerous to Ireland what with his sycophantic attitude to Europe and a student of Sutherland's globalist agenda.

We really are bereft of decent options in this country. SF will be in the driving seat next time out I reckon and that will be even worse for those of us who pay for everything and get almost nothing in return - to say nothing of the negative impact on the FDI we wholly depend on whilst they try to make their United Ireland fantasy come true at all costs.

Did the FF membership have a different choice to Martin in the same way the FG membership wanted Covaney over Varadkar.

Tweeting increasing 'concern' a few weeks into Level 5 just takes the biscuit. What a waste of 1.5 billion Euro Level 5 is, we could have invested it in actually stopping Covid spreading throughout hosptials and nursing homes. Imagine reducing testing in Nursing homes to once a fortnight, and then having the audacity to shut honest hard working people's businesses, keep healthy people from exercising in gyms and start making noise about cancelling Christmas.

Pfizer ends trial with 95% eficacy. 94% for over 65’s.

Do you have a link to the released data?

I still have not found out what it does ....... prevent infection? reduce impact of infection? counteract/cure an infection?

There is zero chance of Restrictions being relaxed. Tony H and crew are already working on the fear to ensure it doesnt.

If ever you needed evidence of this its the fiasco as per above.

Gobsh1t politicians falling over themselves in a panic to change the laws of the land cos a few people were shown on a twitter video having a few drinks in public.

Think about it for a minute! Talk about the tail wagging the dog, NPHET prey upon and amplify a twitter video declaring "more concerns" and politicians fall over themselves to change the laws of the land in a panic.

No chance of NPHET relaxing any restrictions and following the pathetic excercise of panic on display this week over a twitter video theres no chance of the government going against them

There's a very good chance that restrictions will be relaxed.

Martin wants his day in the sun, he doesn't care if he has no sunscreen and it's 50 degrees with no clothes or ozone layer!! he knows he's getting lots of heat but you cant burn a brass neck..

The majority are doing their bit. Bit silly to suggest otherwise.

Have a drive around the city at different times of the day
At least 4 times as many cars on the road during this lockdown than the last, that's at 7.15 am

I go for a drive for the craic, nothing better to do.

when the HMS challenger set sail for 3 years in the 1800's, it was an expedition
ship. one in four men jumped over board and 8 died, some from on board suicides...this was on a ship..imagine on a less dramatic scale what another year in your house will be like with no socializing, no pubs, no gyms, no pool, no work colleagues, no family visits and no friends over..IF Tony see's that what it takes to achieve what are now socially engineered quotas! he may even stop alcohol sales if needs be...

never trust a GOVT who stand on stage with a regional plan and then tear it up and stick us all on level 5 within weeks!! they haven't a clue.
Tony was brought back because he was apparently seen as the savior in lockdown

I remember reading a couple of weeks ago that the uk authorities suggested holding frisbee throwing competitions and dog shows to keep spirits up during lockdown. These people function on a different level to us, they're barely human.

That is not the experience anywhere else in the world. Where the virus transmission is high, people stay away because they don't want themselves or their families to get sick. A relatively small number of young people standing on a street is not the same as the regular pub-goer going back to the pub as our hospitals become over-run.

You could not get a socially distanced seat in my local after 5 o Clock in the evening or all day Sat and Sunday when they opened up
I was ringing up to book a seat ,or chancing it as I am a regular
