Well according to some around here there's millions of people with loads in savings ready to charge in like the cavalry to spend it all.

Some people see everyone obeying the lockdown and Garda checkpoints on every corner. It's amazing what you can see from behind your curtain.

The Gardaí turning the knife on the knee-jerk, curtain-twitcher calls to ban takeaway pints (which is exactly what it was), to heap further embarrassment on the government and the covhysterics.

    I particularly enjoyed this quote;

There is zero chance of Restrictions being relaxed. Tony H and crew are already working on the fear to ensure it doesnt.

If ever you needed evidence of this its the fiasco as per above.

Gobsh1t politicians falling over themselves in a panic to change the laws of the land cos a few people were shown on a twitter video having a few drinks in public.

Think about it for a minute! Talk about the tail wagging the dog, NPHET prey upon and amplify a twitter video declaring "more concerns" and politicians fall over themselves to change the laws of the land in a panic.

No chance of NPHET relaxing any restrictions and following the pathetic excercise of panic on display this week over a twitter video theres no chance of the government going against them

TBF it seems that it was Mammy Martin who led the charge against takeaway pints and FG and the Greens saw to it that he didn't get out of the blocks. Sadly, in all of this, he has turned out to be as bad as predicted. It would be nice to see a night of long knives in FF and O'Callaghan take over.

The nursing homes are suffering because of NPHETs expert technical guidance

    So are Hospitals.
221 staff self isolating in limerick hospital. Several patients infected driving up hospital numbers 'with covid'[.
88 Staff in Naas the same and they are being forced to come back early due to staff shortages.
Same thing happening in Letterkenny, Dundalk and Drogheda.

As usual NPHET and the HSE are making a balls of things and actually driving up our numbers but instead of admitting any shortcomings on their own behalf they prefer to sneer at the public and deflect attention.

On the face of what you say above from an optics and performance thus far standpoint. I agree with you 100%. nphet will dig the heels in as a milestone. If you can restrict at xmas then the whole 2021 is gravy and thet know it.

The majority of people are going to have a good Christmas regardless of NPHET.

This is not wishful thinking. Rolling lockouts can be avoided by pitching the level of restrictions correctly.

We can avoid future L5 type restrictions by designing a variant L3 that will maintain an R0 at or slightly below 1. Relaxations of that will than happen through the course of the year according to the vaccine rollout programme.

This is now the plan. It will enable the producing sectors of the economy to avoid future closures, schools to remain open, and limited travel and small group social activities to resume in due course.

You are typing pure and utter bull****e at this stage
You have gone beyond a parody account at this stage
if you are going to be a WUM then you should do some research in how to do it properly
I have seen some experts in the field of WUMMERY in other sports forum and they would put you to shame
We will not avoid further lockdowns because a large minority will ignore them and they will become ineffective .but NPHET have no other weapons in their
    arsenal
You have been asked this before on numerous occasions and have refused to answer
How do you know the plan ??

lf the majority get the vaccine which is probably what will happen then life will go back to normal. How do I know this well nearly everyone who uses public transport and goes to shops wears a mask I would it is at least 95% compliance. So if 95% of people will happily wear a mask then it's clear 95% will take a vaccine.

If more people thought covid was a hoax or exaggerated or wouldn't buy into govt. measures then you'd get way less mask compliance. So my belief is that vaccine take up will be the same as mask compliance ie. 95% unless something majorly changes between and now and mass vaccine rollout.

95% (your number) of people are wearing masks because they are being forced to. They're not 'happily' wearing a mask. They risk the possibility of being fined for not wearing one. It's quite the leap to think that those same 95% will take a vaccine...unless it's going to be mandatory.

Yea- a narrative I did pick up on was that people still working are saving a lot and the state is “missing out on that revenue “ or words to that effect.

So Minister it appears that people no longer fear this 'deadly virus'.
Ministerial Advisor: Maybe we should pump "long covid" more? I heard of a lad posting on twitter who has to drink extra strong coffee 6 months after having covid as he says average strength no longer does it for him?

Minister: Can we not use the data to highlight how serious covid is?

Ministerial Advisor: People have copped the data, we're trying to figure out a way to amend the HSPC reporting format.

Minister: Damnit! Alright, we'll pump long covid for now. But we need something better than weak/strong coffee.

Ministerial Advisor: Leave it with me.

Absolutely dead right, money aplenty out there. I wonder how many "Syrians" I could get into a two bedroom flat? Surely ten. I think it is high time I became a landlord like my friends in the civil service.

Actually far worse than I thought he’d be. Far more afraid of his own shadow than I assumed. He did get the memo that he’s now the Taoiseach right?

You said a “fully open country is not the answer”. What else can one conclude then other than you do believe lockdowns are the answer as they are the exact same thing!

The only way we get out of this and I mean fully out of this , is to recalibrate our attitudes to the numbers.

I could give a fiddlers if its a million cases a day once lockdown ends. Cases mean nothing at this stage.

Send everyone for a dental check up and we will have an epidemic of tooth decay. Most of them will have had no tooth pains or discomfort.

We have been browbeaten into a new paradigm. Its total nonsense.

If this was 1985 all we would hear about is a bad dose going around.

So if as a result of this approach is hospitals shut down for a few years to deal with it, you are ok?

Compassion and empathy are not your strong points
So 600,000 who work in retail ,tourism and hospitality are just certain sections of society
Christ on a bike ,I hope you never get elected to power

Hi, I think that’s a little unfair on me to be honest. I have buckets of sympathy and empathy for anyone who is suffering due to the lockdown and so on but that doesn’t change the fact that on an overall level when viewing the economy that there are many sectors that are not impacted - pharma, manufacturing, tech, IT, construction, grocery retail and many others that are not badly hit - financial (accountants and so on), legal, retail with strong online presence, certain hospitality that relied on takeaway anyway) and so on.

When you compare with last recessions this is quite a different picture. There is also the key point that many of the current jobs are paused not lost - ok current income is down but once things open up the majority of folks are straight back to work.

Lockdowns might be better for some than others (I would include myself in that) but I still don’t like them and long for being able to get back to normal, meet friends, eat in a restaurant, and so on but there is no value in doing any of this when it’s unsafe which most folks feel it is at the moment.

Why do you think that when a vaccine will be available in the new year?

Roughly 2.5 % of the population will be vaccinated in the first batch
How long will it take for 8-10 million batches to be made available to Ireland

That is absolute nonsense. I've been drinking on the streets since the end of the summer. It was the beach and local harbour during the summer. And i'm well out from the city centre.

Decided to pop my head into the ireland subreddit last night and was surprised to see a lot of people say they were sick of the condescending tone from the government, sick of being treated like school kids and how they're just losing people now. Master Holohan was getting a lot of **** in the replies on his "I'm VERY concerned" spiel on twitter too. Tides turning hopefully.

So after the kite flying ends this week and they sit down with Dr. Tony it will be:

    Level 3+ from NPHET
    vs
    Level 3 from Govt
    vs
    Level 2 from the public

Mehole would take level 3 no doubt if there was no uproar but the public have decided and FG and Greens know they will get hit in the ballot box so it's level 2.

Anyone for a trip to the Zoo?

Wow look at the comments, the fawning public is dwindling. It can be level 10 now but people rightly don't care and will get on with life.
