We are still at the point non of the government in Europe will overflow their healthcare voluntarily. All of your suggestions are already there and do they work, nope. Ireland's healthcare is fcuked as it is, even without pandemic, so you can imagine all the boys in power are shītting their pants. So there's response we have, prolonged restrictions without the end, unless we have vaccine or effective treatment.

Agree that our healthcare is f*cked and that is the real reason why we can’t afford anything other than lockdown or heavy restrictions.

But I think something has to give in 2021. Public support will drop lower and lower. People will care less. Money will get a lot tighter. Businesses will press very hard for certainty.

Just my honest opinion... I think we’ll get a vaccine that is not really brilliant but will be good enough to help and knock Covid off the top news spot. A narrative will form that Covid will always be here but we have the tools to fight it.

Over time we will just have to accept that it’s here now but we need to keep living.

    More amusement than anger.

I am at peace that some people have a limited grasp of how the world around them works

I read most of your comments , the majority are filled with anger and alot of personal attack aswell. Oh yeah and a misplaced sense of superiority.

Stop talking rubbish and jumping to conclusions. Like you did about my financial situation. Badly hit by covid. Nobody likes restrictions. There is a vaccine for flu and certainty around it.

No convincing arguments so you get personal or make these stupid strawmen.

You’re not very bright are you? My post about “ your financial situation” wasn’t aimed at you so you stop “jumping to conclusions”. Maybe you should stop being angry and bitter and read posts correctly.

Well i won't deny that i think the people here are 100% wrong and their opinions are toxic and that brings some anger.

I am confident in what i know and humble about what i don't. If only some here would take that tact.

Who was "the person you are replying to" thing about so?

If i'm wrong, i'm wrong fair enough.

Probably best you keep your anger to yourself no one here is obligated to accept it. It's a discussion forum unless you can provide credentials to show you are an expert on all matters Covid you are as ignorant and knowledgeable as anyone else here. A little respect whether you agree with another poster or not will cost you nothing.

we dont need to let it rip through, the vulnerable in nursing homes etc should be properly protected and the elderly etc, limit interaction as much as possible...

so more or less what we are currently doing then.
yet you are ranting away about our approach which seeks to do exactly that.
and yes i'm well aware they fecked up with the nursing homes and there was no justification for that however our whole approach has been about protecting the vulnerable and economy.
protection of the vulnerable without controlling and minimising virus spread on the other hand is not possible and people just need to get used to this reality.

no I doubt it, they are stupid here, but not that stupid, do that and they would alienate some of the stupid enough to buy what they are currently selling. It will be back to level 3, so from a social perspective in pubs and resteraunts, if 1.5 hours, no wet pubs, a waste of time. If wet pubs with early close and enforced 1.5 hours, a waste of time...

Literally made the decision weeks ago, to bypass the **** version of pubs that will be offered to us anyway, save the money and use it for proper fun things, travel, going out, when this is over. Absolute waste of money and time as it is, in my opinion...

funnily enough most people do tend to "buy" as in accept facts.

there is a whole thread on it in this very forum, you might have posted in it actually but i can't remember, if you haven't, the title is called sweeden avoiding lock down.

I'm very highly educated. I know words, i have the best words, nobody has better words then me.

Attack the post - this is a generic attack on the poster even if attempting to link to posts

Please bear in mind you have already had one threadban here

I did read past the headline, I also remember you getting upset when I stated on another thread that obseity worsens the potential outcome from Covid.
It's a fact Covid affects the elderly more so than those under 60. I can post you multiple links to demonstrate this I could even post a link from the early days of Nphet stating who the virus was most dangerous for. Somehow I think you already know most of these facts just unwilling to accept them.

Hang on think your miss remembering there or confusing me with someone else. The only time I remember talking about Obesity and Covid was when someone was trying to say it was was irrelevant as Ireland isnt very obese and when I posted that around 25% of Irish are obese I was incorrectly challenged until I posted the relevant study.

I seem to be agreeing with you as you seem to be aware that there ARE factors other than age that put people at risk.

It is a public discussion forum and i haven't lost any civility.

Go away with your moralising in what is a daily mud slinging exercise on here.

There are plenty of facts from what has happened recently that prove the prevailing rhetoric here to be absolutely false. I am qualified enough to interpret simple charts.

I'm not. I actually posted the link referencing obesity and Covid in a reply to you not on this thread though.

Well I distinctly remember having to break the news to someone in the main covid thread that Ireland is chock full of obese people who would be at risk if it was "let rip".

    So yeah.

So what facts exist that show non essential retail is lethal?

Well that sounds equally angry and bitter.

You could always just debate me on the many points I made.

That is how we learn, we talk constructively with open minds.

Fine if you did. Fully agree with you being fat and contracting Covid not something anyone wants.

If i reply to that you will only accuse me of condescension.

Zoom out a bit, my arguments are not on that level of detail.

So long as you don't go down the rabbit hole of just a flu, open everything now rant rant rant we can probably agree on most things.

You are saying the rethoric here is false, many here have decried the decision to close non essential retail. Your claim is facts exist so can you link which facts justify the closing of this type of retail.
The rest of your comment was unnecessary but a clear tactic.

I’m angry and bitter for pointing something out in your posts? I’m far from it.

I couldn’t be bothered debating anymore on these threads to be honest. It seems like it’s going around in circles at this stage.

Not a game i wish to engage in sorry, big picture only

It is false, a ****load of deaths this past week prove the worst claims here to be 1000% wrong.

Look you made a claim but somehow can't or won't back it up. No problem.

I made no claim whatsoever about non essential retail.

Loads of other points i did make, how about those?

Well if you don't want to debate it gets stale and tiresome fast. But you have every right to say what you like.

You made a claim about comments here being false and facts exist to prove they're false. I pointed out comments here have decried the closing of non essential retail , but hey it's the bigger picture you're interested in, helps when you can't back up your comments. ;-)

Well it says a lot when your post has a cheek to say “ ideally private” shows what you’re dealing with on here.

This is boring now sorry. Trying to lure me into some bizarre game of nit picking. You mentioned tactics so you might operate that way yourself. Not really my style tbh

I would like to have some civil debate about the real issues, the main one is the nphet are criminals and lockdown is a joke line...that to me is completely wrong as borne out in the relative data with other countries.

    Dinner time

I asked you to back up your claims that comments here are false, clearly you can't. Instead all I see is deflection . From what I have seen you have backed up none of your claims. Anyway enjoy your dinner.
