Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

The tyres were holding up well during Free practice this morning so I reckon we'll have a one-stopper race, with those on the mediums going until around lap 20-25 like last week, then going onto the hards. I also reckon the softs, which is the C4 compound will be able to last towards lap 15-20.

I am hoping the lack of track running will catch a few drivers out causing an upset/something to watch.

Some job by Red Bull. Think Ted said it would usually take them 15 minutes to change a spark plug.
Why should it take an entire team of mechanics that long to change a spark plug? How long would they take to change a light bulb-a job entailing a similar level of complexity?

I was wondering too, seemed like an excessive amount of time with a sudden 66 percent reduction in time needed

Probably because of the amount of bodywork and engine bits that need removing to access it? Not like you can just pop the bonnet and have simple access

As soon as DRS is activated.

Nah, Hamilton will either get him on lap one or let him blow his tyres for 6 laps then get him.

I just presume there are procedures and checklists to comply with under normal circumstances. I’d bet they have to check every part they remover get to the spark plug, inspect it for damage and replace it if necessary. So they allow x minutes to change a spark plug and comply with all the precautions.

So under pressure the precautions go out the window and a spark plug change might actually take much less time than the scheduled time suggests

I’ve no idea what to make of that. Gasley is fastest on that list - a second faster than Hamilton.
If you take it as indicative then Gasley might be a good shout for a podium if any of the top three don’t finish.

Where did you get that second of difference from ?

I'll be blunt and say that I don't want Hamilton to win today purely because the Sky coverage will go overload on the whole Senna-Imola angle. He can win next time out in Turkey and seal his deserved title there but hopefully Bottas wins today.

sky just mentioned hamilton complaining about how todays race might be a bit of a procession

Think he has already locked up on the formation lap.

Stroll in the wars, missing half his front wing

bottas goes defencive but leave room for 2 artics to pass like last week.

    Good start from Giovanazzi

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,292 ✭✭✭✭ctrl-alt-delete

Caught his front wing on Ocon's rear right then lost it in the next kerb.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,292 ✭✭✭✭ctrl-alt-delete

Gasly had a good start but ended up getting squeezed out.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,292 ✭✭✭✭ctrl-alt-delete

Surprised no driver has been on asking for that bit of wing to be removed.

Looks like you need to be really close to get the benefit of the Drs based on Hamiltons first attempt.

It's kind of weird to see autumn leaves floating around bits of the track.

    Ah, Gasly. That's harsh

Ah that's a pity. Danny Ric in a very comfortable position now. Max hanging in there with Bottas. Suspect Bottas is taking it very easy on the tyres after last weekend.

Yeah very processional, very reminiscent of pre DRS era races. I remember the days when every race was like this. Pit stops might liven it up now.

Russell must have had a monstrous outlap. Undercut Ocon and is a second off Norris after the pit stops.

    Really hope not.

2.4 of an advantage for Bottas,

But Lewis is flying, but he will have to stop when he hits the traffic I'd guess.

  • Registered Users Posts: 14,648 ✭✭✭✭skipper_G

Lewis going to somehow come out in front?

Hammering in fastest lap after fastest lap, if Bottas gets involved in a fight with Verstappen might play into Hamilton's hands

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 407 ✭✭tipp_tipp_tipp

Fastest lap LH. Is he going to make the overcut work?
