So we are in Imola for round 13. It's only 2 days . Hopefully we get a better race here than the one last week which after the first 6 laps just died.

FP 1 on Saturday and then Qualifying
    Then Race on Sunday.

    Live long and Prosper

    Peace and long life.

Yep the second weekend with no FP 1 or 2 although it was not planned that way for the last one t was the weather that stopped them and it was for this one so it's the first weekend where there is no FP 1 or 2 scheduled at all.

    Live long and Prosper

    Peace and long life.

Max looking really good, both Renault decent too

Albon puts in a lap that's slower than both Alpha Tauri and it gets deleted for track limits. He's not helping his chances

Nope, he is 100% gone for next season, I just cant see how this is going to get any better for him soon

Poor guys confidence is prob down and the whole world is watching him perform terrible and know red bull are looking at other drivers.

He simply has not performed in that car and now is on his last legs

Quite a few getting laps deleted,

Looking at the bits flying off the Ferrari they might want to try keeping well inside.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,904 ✭✭✭✭skipper_G

Lance is a lucky boy, squeezed into Q2 by the skin of his teeth. Kimi lost his best lap for going over track limits, his time was better than Stroll's

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,648 ✭✭✭✭ctrl-alt-delete

Kimi obviously fancies doing what he did last weekend again :pac:

I feel bad for him when I hear him on team radio, he sounds completely broken. But he's not getting the job done

Track limits are a sham. Should just be the white line the whole way around

Oh not an issue for Verstappen, he's the only one with a chance of beating Hamilton on Sunday

Albon spins - seems like he can't catch a break.

Albon spins and wrecks his mediums in the process, now his race strategy is compromised. So long and thanks for all the fish

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,904 ✭✭✭✭skipper_G

Stroll battling Russell says a lot about their respective qualifying performances

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,648 ✭✭✭✭ctrl-alt-delete

Looks like Max will have a shot,

Might have been quicker just to rob the part from Albon's car.

Gasly doing a great job, great to see him there for another year

David Croft "Red Bull have never qualified over 14th at Imola"

Wrong tyre but Albon through. Vettel fails to make it through again :( Perez will be disappointed too

Been an absolute crazy year for him in F1
(plus losing one of his childhood best friend last August in F2 )

Delighted for him, nobody likes anyone going through a tough time and people were writing him off in f1 when he was bad at a red bull. He is pulling it out of the bag now

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,904 ✭✭✭✭skipper_G

That's pretty impressive stuff, Red Bull got it fixed and he gets one run on the mediums and nails the lap.

Absolute shocker for Racing Point both cars out in Q2. And Vettel beaten by Russell AGAIN

In fairness, that Red Bull pit crew are ridiculously impressive.

Red Bull mechanics should get a big bonus at the end of the season.

Some job by Red Bull. Think Ted said it would usually take them 15 minutes to change a spark plug.

Unless you count their time as McLaren's works supplier or their previous incarnations as Tyrell or BAR (think it was gone by the time Honda went Works and certainly gone by Brawn). Mercedes Benz haven't qualified at Imola full stop.
Come to think of it, what about Stewart or Jaguar's performance here?

    This too shall pass.

Given the amount of gravel they have been brushing away in the breaks, looks like we'll be on for a safety car or 2 tomorrow

Lawrence Stroll acquire /bought them out and they are now Racing Point

Irvine qualified 7th in a Jaguar there in 2000. Rubens and Johnny Herbert qualified over 14th there in Stewarts too. Its so long ago though that it was just a stupid stat to mention - Red Bull were a very different operation in 2006 :pac:

Well done Bottas. How many corners do you give him before Lewis is ahead tomorrow?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,904 ✭✭✭✭skipper_G

Bottas on pole, so when will Hamilton pass him tomorrow, at the start or in the pit stop phase?

As soon as DRS is activated.

Albon had a bit of a nightmare, but recovered to end up 6th for tomorrow which isn't the worst. Am I right in thinking he'll be starting on soft tyres while others around him are on medium? He has to get a good start (for a change tomorrow) to gain some places before his tyres go off, and his starts aren't really the best so we'll see what happens.

Bottas will be in 2nd by the end of the first lap, possibly even 3rd of Max gets a good start.

Hopeful we gets few safety cars tomorrow. Can see a few cars stuck in gravel in the last few corners.
