I don't see how a gym could be considered essential and it would be high risk (heavy breathing, sharing machines etc etc). A majority of people have probably never been inside one or certainly not be regular goers.

Exercise can be got outside a gym isn't needed.

I saw a few gyms in Liverpool doing that alright but not pubs & restaurants.

Some could argue that gyms are essential and pubs/restaurants are not.

Wetherspoons have definitely said they aren't closing.

I've gotten fitter since March from using YouTube exercise videos. HIIT and other aerobic videos don't need any equipment We bought weights for resistance training so we have all kinds of exercise choices. The weights cost 80 quid so it was way cheaper than the gym membership since april.

I'm any case, exercise might be essential (certainly very important) but the gym is definitely not essential.

Wetherspoons might be all that's left of the Pub industry by next March or April with the constant lockdowns...

If the schools remain open under Level 5, then most pubs are sunk completely. Even the dogs on the street know that schools are a primary driver in resurgence of Covid. We would be stuck in lockdown for months with such shenanigans. Publicans deserve a fighting chance, imagine being vilified for so long while another sector gets away with it without any scrutiny. I would be hugely aggrieved in their shoes.

Where are you working out? I've noticed a pattern wrt working out and working from home that people's enthusiasm is directly related to whether or not they have a dedicated area.

I've found the ones in RO Ireland to be OK. The one in Belfast is the grimmest place on Earth.

The ability to see your ma is removed on 24 hours notice, but Mystic McArdles here can see three months into the future!

In no universe are gyms or pubs essential!

Only a moron would argue that they are, and I bet they hijack the term "Mental Health" whilst they're at it as well!

Tough times, and many will have to shrink their lives now, and going forward. It's not an easy gig.

What is necessary and vital will be there. Forget about spontaneity, fun, etc. We are bubbled now. And for the foreseeable. Schools excepted lol of course.

I do it in the living room which is also the room where my Mrs and I have worked from home since March. It's a 2 up 2 down house so everything goes on in the living room as it's the only room we have that isn't a bedroom, kitchen or bathroom.

You’re such an ignoramus. You literally have no idea. Gyms absolutely should be essential. It’s scientifically proven how good gyms are for mental health. Nobody is “hijacking” anything here. I train minimum 6 or 7 times a week, heavy lifting. I have soccer training too some nights on top of that. The last lockdown saw my mental health plummet with not being able to go to the gym. And don’t give me that nonsense of “go for a run” either. It’s not the same. Only an ignoramus with zero clue of training/gyms would come out with such a retarded statement.

well seems you were spot on! I wonder how all those previous generations survived when gyms memberships were pretty much unheard of, how did they get out of bed with those puny muscles.

Things are changing so quickly there is no way that would be known. Sure we're only mid October.

Whatever happened to those delicious pints of yours, or has the mask long since slipped?

That didn't take long. Didn't bother reading the rest.

Although I see you're coming around to science, so that's a good thing.

The pubs are closed. Haven't you noticed?

That is not allowed now. But you don't care and on we go to Level 5.

Breaking rules as usual. This is why we are going to level 5 because some people are just too ignorant/stupid/selfish to heed the rules.

Nothing stopping you drinking at home.

When you look at Germany and how they're handling the pandemic, it puts us to shame. We should just let the Germans run here instead of our useless gombeens. We aren't fit to govern ourselves.

It’s 100% allowed. There’s no law against it. I’ll probably have more than 3 pints too, that’s also not allowed!! I’m on a “guideline” spree!!!

    Oh. You do classes. Cute.

The gym meat head response says a lot about why you see them as essential anyway. Too hard get the roids to the house?
