So would I. But not the choking to death on a bitter pill you take yourself as is done in Zurich, it was scary to watch on documentary. I wouldn't mind a self administered overdose of heroin or something like that if I had the courage to do it. Trouble is, somebody paralysed by MND or other illness can't administer their own, and the Hippocratic Oath prevents any qualified doctor from administering a lethal dose. In that case it relies on a willing relative or friend to do it and not everyone would know somebody like that, also many would be highly reluctant to do it in case if accusation of murder. It's the most difficult area of all.
    That does sound pretty horrendous.
I did watch the louis theroux doc on assisted suicide and found it really interesting, though not an easy watch.

    F**kin religion!

Worse pandemic ever is religion. Most harmful entity ever invented IMO.

I think hes doing a jigsaw. Sounded like he thumped in a tricky piece there.

Not a nice thing to admit about myself but I honestly think less of people when I hear they are a member of that church. Anyone who can support such an organisation, to me, is choosing bad over good.
My sister would still read at mass etc.
But she is extremely accepting of me and my husband (I think she knows I am punching above my weight!).
I honestly don't think it's so black and white.
Organised religion can be a godsend...literally and figuratively I think for some people.

    This woman is pretty eloquent.

I am a very much lapsed catholic since I was about 16. My folks also very much drifted away with the scandals etc. Gay and happily married now. Much happier having nothing to do with the church. I haven't been to one in years.

I've drifted away, but in ways I miss it, and I have a glimmer of faith in a God, that comes and goes. I also respect people of firm faith and decency. My mother would be turning in her urn, although she knew I wasn't much into churchgoing and just asked me to pray if I did nothing else. I do that much in case it is heard, though I often doubt it.

You are probably far more clear thinking and reasonable that me. D

I just can't see past how they have treated, and continue to treat people. (the organisation, not the followers, but all contribute in my eyes)

The song wasn't called SOS, you buffoon, it's called Message in Bottle!

Or Massage in a Brothel as we used to sing at school.

Faith/religion can offer great solace to the bereaved. A friend of mine died recently and his wife is taking huge comfort from her faith.

    I can definitely relate.

My folks made us all go every week til I was about 16 then it was up to us, I don't regret going etc.

I am not sure I believe in God, but that up bringing definitely taught me right from wrong and I hope to be kind and decent to people whenever I possibly can.

My sister really went back to going to mass, while living and working in london. Lovely catholic priest, friendly warm personable and very community linked, it was a world of difference from the priests and structure in my home parrish

Yep same with us. Mass every Sunday until I was old enough to say No.
