I knew maybe 2-3 people all along, I now know 7 in the last 3 days.
1 is one of my very good friends, who has barely left the house and believes they caught it in a chipper.
It appears one town in particular in Cork (starts with c and ends with -aline) is particularly problemsome atm.

Hearing that as well. Kanturk LEA was <5 cases per 100k last week now 80 per 100k cases. Shows how fast it can spread.
Supposedly students coming home has caused it...

George Lee just did that thing I hate people doing. Run up to you get well within 2 meters and start talking at you. Where's your mask George? FFS That's all we need is the CMO taken out. :pac:

CMO skirting the question on schools there

Best for him to move it on because I think he knows there's a high chance that we will be revisiting the whole schools thing at some point in the future with something else entirely been said about schools.

School children are being swabbed at a higher rate than other age groups. There is no hiding for them as the schools are monitoring temps, sniffles etc. No other age groups are overseen in such a manner.
    .

Schools monitoring temps and the like!!! Where are you hearing all that???

I think everybody needs to stop looking for people to blame ... this virus is in the midst of the second wave..... really we can only work to stop it exploding off the charts but not much else... send loving messages to your family and friends and look out for eachother....some of us will not make this winter... and other will get through it but battered and having deep PTSD....we will never be the same again but we must try to remain human

I suppose the one plus is the idiots who got it through being wreckless will struggle to get it again for about 6 months.

I knew nobody with a positive Covid test on October 1.
Now I know 5 people. Galway was doing so well but is fast becoming a problem county.

Agree. I live in Galway county, not the city. I hadn’t heard of anyone I know having Covid and now 3 this week.
There’s a huge amount of people just not following guidelines anymore. I work in retail and it’s really hard trying to deal with it

Pointing out why cases are occurring and that behaviour needs to change is not assigning blame, it's simply stating the facts.

Unless there are lots of octogenarians with underlying conditions posting on boards I'm pretty sure every single one of us will "make the winter."

Nobody wishes for level 5 tbf. 1,000 people getting sick a day isn't sustainable. People will inevitably be hospitalized and need ICU from these cases. It's about protecting health service and preventing people getting sick and dying. Need a short and sharp shock.

But 1,000 people a day are not getting sick, they are getting infected. That's not the same thing. Most of them are young people. They feel invincible and immortal. They could only be corralled for so long and now they have bolted. And please, don't shoot the messenger. I'm only pointing out what the authorities don't seem to want to acknowledge.

239 of those cases aren't from today must be close to a record number for daily backlog cases?

Which of the bullet points did you disagree with? Or was it the graph?

I find when my emotions take over and I become angry or flustered from reading new information or hearing other people's perspectives the best course of action is to try and keep calm and examine the source of where that's coming from. Seems to have touched a nerve anyway.

Each bullet point is correct, the issue is the facts are cherry picked. None of his points address the primary concern that hospitals will be overwhelmed without restrictions.

The first lockdown worked in that it stopped the health system breaking, picking stats ignores the obvious fact that a big reason there wasn't a catastrophe in the spring was because of the restrictions he is rallying against now.

Can we install Tony as leader for the duration of the crisis?

He has the benefit of not having to be elected so he can sort out the yoof and the GAA.
