Well for a start they could look at protecting the very vulnerable so as to try to limit the numbers requiring hospitalisation.

That's not exactly thinking outside the box though. They mandated that during the last lockdown. It's really up to the very vulnerable to look after their own safety. The government and shops have done everything they can for them.

It's beyond doubt now L3 has failed in the capital. Time to level up and bring in huge fines for the scumbags ruining it for everyone. Many businesses are going to go to the wall because we have a large cohort who have no morals.

950~ swabs today, so yes, there is a backlog.

They don't report on how many swabs there were today.

The Tanaiste mentioned Levels 1, 2, 4, 5 or 26 in an interview today

That would be one for every thread in this series. Maybe he's reading us:pac:

That might explain the confusion in government:D

My daughter and her close friend both work in a hospital. Friend tested positive monday.no contact tracing done as yet.

That would be for the hospital's occupational health department to manage.

Actually, it is good to know, so that they can take stock of it and try to adjust the strategy.

I'd say a Level 4 will be called over the whole country before the weekend is out.

I'd love to know our exit strategy for current restrictions tbh. Maybe Leo/Hugh can let us all know.

Someone needs to tell Nolan he doesn't understand exponential. Who could do that?

Zero covid is a pipe dream, its been discussed time and time again.

You also can't enforce WFH, there's plenty who can't

Everyone who works in an office can WFH.

Take home your desktop, sort a aVPN

All other essential workers have to go in, have a letter to prove it

Apart from that, fine anyone who isn’t following. Fines don’t work? Public order offence then

    Very easy done

    Level 3 isn’t working

This is a daily valid post

We’re following the same trend that’s occurring in parts of Europe that are rapidly deteriorating.

New restrictions that don’t go far enough cause cases to stabilise for a short period of time but don’t actually decrease rate of transmission, followed by rapid rise in cases.

Everything they have done has been designed around not having to tell the very vulnerable to lockdown separately to the rest of the population.

There's no exit strategy, there's no plan, they're making it up as they go along.

All NPHET are talking about is various degrees of lockdown. No mention of the basics like improving testing turnaround times, contact tracing, hospital bed and ICU capacity.

In fairness it's not Varadkar's fault or any one politician but he royally screwed up hanging NHPET out to dry. It's the moment that will define the type of person he is for years to come.

Not as simple as that. There's people who are in shared accommodation who can't reasonably WFH. If you are in telesales you can be yapping away in your bedroom while other people are also WFH.

Firstly, that doesn't have swabs from today. It has yesterday's swabs.

Secondly, NPHET don't report on the number of positive swabs. They report on the number of positive cases identified by the HPSC yesterday.
