Ad for "St Patrick's mental health services", incredibly sinister.

RTÉ get a budget to give me mental health problems, as the services for mental health go underfunded by the government. RTÉ get advertising revenue from this private clinic. I pay to have my mental health problems treated at the clinic.

    The circlejerk continues.

Indeed, but I imagine the individual who would get excited enough to drink early cans and invite friends over for that dross probably isn't paying particular interest in the restrictions as is.

One of the reasons why contract tracing is struggling - CPL, who are doing the recruitment, told candidates the job is a zero-hour contract, and they won't guarantee any work hours and that there's no sick pay.

I submitted an application to CPL over 4 weeks ago and haven't yet received my e vetting link! God help this country if they are depending on CPL to provide staff for testing and tracing.

    Only the irresponsible ones.

Only the same ones that look for "loopholes" and excuses not to follow the guidance

A ban on visiting households but you can still go to work without a mask and mix with people there (I know of a few places that hasn't gotten their employees wearing masks).

    Are masks compulsory in workplaces?

If the government need to cut off the chain of transmission, it's alot better on the economy and people's lives if they keep as many controlled environments open as much as possible.

Household to household transmission is high, catching it a gym isn't as rampant. Your solution, close down all workplaces so you can still have a cuppa with you ma?

I never suggested closing down work places. You did.

It's just a bit dumb how you're not allowed to enter someone's home but you can go to a jam packed gym, jam packed beer garden, jam packed shopping centre, jam packed bus but you can't go to your own family home even if just 1 person is home.

If you can't see how stupid and laughable these rule changes have become then there's no hope for you.

I'm not even someone who hates the restrictions. I can easily say that Dublin and most of the country needs at least level 4 restrictions right now. Not level 3.65 with weekly rule changes that make absolutely no sense.

    Not getting it.
    Never have.
I’m no anti-vax muppet, have all my shots and kids have all of theirs, but they won’t be getting the flu Jab. They are better off getting the flu and and fighting it than some having some man made concoction put up their nose.

People need to stop being scared of getting sick, it’s part of life, and at a young age it helps you establish an immune system and lets your body learn how to fight infection.

If you have a compromised immune system that’s another story, if your getting or have in the last while got chemo, or something serious then it might make sense, but healthy people should be fighting a mild illness like the flu themselves.

What do you think a vaccine does? - establish the immune system without the need to get ill with the responsible infectious agent

Only my opinion... But it feels like the government is bringing in everything but a level 5 lockdown. Like they're nudging against the line but not wanting to cross over it. So what's the point guys? Just go level 5. I reckon we will be level 5 within the next month and a half (before December)

There is way less compliance withe the Levels now than when Simon used to be staring down your throat on twitter.

This weekend all shops will be completely packed and when everyone is exhausted from doing xmas shopping and halloween shopping we will be having house parties.

Theres a sense that theres so many thousands of cases now that nothing we do will prevent it even if politicians say otherwise.

Also how come so many people have got it even though we are 95% wearing masks .... all over Europe.

I used to think otherwise but I think the virus doesnt give a stuff about masks either. This virus seems to not care about anything and attaches to victim cells no matter what.

His tweet was about last night and numbers are updated twice a day. One would assume the CEO is in the loop or the HSE is a worse state than we ever imagined.

The numbers updated at 8am on the dashboard, Reid tweeted at 6:17am based on last nights figures.

They'd don't want to be seen to be doing it 'precipitously'.

What you are saying makes zero sense. If I go to my mams for a cup of tea, I know if anybody in my household or hers has had any symptoms of this or tests for it. If neither of us have and both houses have been taking precautions then what's the issue? Meanwhile, you can freely go to a gym or pub and be surrounded by people who you haven't the first clue what symptoms they've had or have or if they've had it already/waiting on test results. How do you consider those locations to be "controlled" or safer than somewhere you know?

They're pulling people from already understaffed areas of the HSE to do it. I know two OTs who have already been pulled from the Community and one SW who has been told he's on a list to be pulled into contact tracing. It's ridiculous.

A principal I know is not allowing the teachers (primary school) to wear them.

    Absenteeism is a big issue.

Cork university hospital report there on Claire Byrne.

People need to be made aware of this ****.

If people don't follow regulations make them stand at the window of a ward and look for 30 mins.

Sick of the bollocks excuses people use to justify their selfishness behaviour.

Again getting the flu vaccine reduces the burden on the health system. CUH had 150 ICU admissions for flu last winter.
You are essentially doing your bit regardless of severity if contracted. In follow on years do what you want. I don't get it every year.
Got a bad flu last year prior to that didn't have it for ~8 years.
I think getting the flu every few years and again actually helps your immune system keep up IMHO. Covid is a different kettle of fish.
I've tried to get the flu vaccine, its currently only available to at risk groups.

    Surely this should be news?

I started working from home over 8 months ago. 217 days ago.

I live in a different county to my family so seeing them has been very limited and the only occasions I have seen them in the last 2 months is a family funeral and month's mind mass. I have seen a number of holidays and momentous celebrations etc cancelled.

It's extremely demoralizing to have followed the rules and guidelines for the last 7 months and now have all sort of fun and excitement be taken away from life currently. Every day has become monotonous, every day is a Monday now. Wake up, go into the room next door and work for the day. The have dinner, clean a few dishes and then go sit on the couch for the night with nothing on TV before going back to bed just to wake up and repeat the cycle again the following day.

No human interaction bar saying hello to the woman behind the shop counter who doesn't know me. Now I can say I am lucky to still be in employment but that cycle is just horrible at the minute.

This current set of guidelines is more demoralizing that the set back in March, April & May. At least back then, we could see an end goal and people were in it together. A short term fix for long term betterment. What's the end goal currently? The reward of being allowed to have a dinner with my family in 70 days time?

You can break this cycle. I know things got waaaay better for me once I forced myself back into lots of regular physical exercise. It's all linked, but I didn't realise the extent till I sorted this. Despite what some on here would have you believe, it's totally possible to do it safely. Not a magic bullet, but then again it's not a zero-sum game. Take care.

Like they said back in April/May... when you meet in somebodies garden, it ins't long until it gets a bit cold so you head inside for a cup of tea etc..

"Sure I'm doing no harm to anyone... it's not the end of the world"

Is exactly what every person that is part of a cluster which started from a group of people meeting in a house said

My workplace is giving fee flu vaccines next week, and do so every year. They can't facilitate every employee, but there are a significant number being distributed
