My Dad is in a nursing home. They have been absolutely fantastic and have been taking every precaution. They rang this evening devastated. Their first positive case was confirmed earlier. With widespread community transmission, it is almost impossible to stop the spread to our most vulnerable.

We got the same call today from my mother-in-law's nursing home. For so long they did a fantastic job of keeping the virus out but it has unfortunately found its way in. They are gutted also and so so apologetic - but there isn't much more they could have done. Fingers crossed the MIL escapes it.

AFAIK no child in a school is considered a Contact if there is a case in the school, so no testing required, same for the teacher.

Is that a cover up or not?

I doubt they have the manpower or will to provide those tests.

It might not be a cover up but they're definitely being selective on the way that they are reporting the statistics.

All tested, I did say confirmed cases.
    All under 60, over 25.
One has diabetes that I know of, 4 co-workes I would not know of underlying conditions.
Dont know if any are on meds.
5 of then from a ski trip, 2 in work have no idea, 3 from collage house share, 2 others also no idea
None have needed any further doctor interactions

This wasn't a study just my experience as I said
The studies show it's got a 0.1% mortality rate

I think smoking kills more than covid, better stay indoors in case someone smoking outside

    Not at all.
So you don't know all the complexities of your work colleagues illness.
    Why would you?
If I were to give you my personal experience as a nurse working through this, you would see why I think your parting comment is so absurd.
But that would be a waste of time...

The old ways are the best. Ha.

I remember all the Halloween stuff at home, I'm older now you see.

We just dressed up in some ridiculous outfits and went door to door saying "Help the Halloween Party", none of this trick or treating either. Am grumpy now :P

Black plastic bag and a bit of soot from the fire rubbed on your face:) or one of those plastic masks from the local H William's :)

Is the postman allowed enter your garden?

No visitors allowed in your garden either, FFS, proper hardship.

Must be new science out about the virus spreading outside at the same rate as indoors!

That'll teach the teenagers who keep throwing fireworks every day near my patio!
Tomorrow I'm going to tell them they are banned.

I'd love if it was announced that a meteor was potentially coming to destroy the earth, a new crisis to have fun with.

They can ban gatherings and give all the stony-faced speeches they like but until they drill down on the actual enforcement of it they may as well stand there and read out banana bread recipes for the next 20 minutes.

Sounds like your workplace is not adhering to HSE guidelines.

I would tend to agree but we keep getting told they are adhering to quidelines

I'm sorry, it's very simple. Stop visiting other houses and stop socialising with other household groups. It couldn't be clearer.

Most people are doing their best. The problem is the cohort who don't care whether the limit is 6, 4, 2 or zero. And the gob****es like we see in the GAA videos.

But can we still have big booze ups after the county finals?

Pretty ****ty cover up given they tell parents of kids in the school whenever there's a case. Not quite sure you understand the meaning.

Don't know who has been informing you, but it is the school... not the HSE.. that is informing parents, with my kids school anyway.

I'd actually listen and take notes, can't beat a bit of banana bread.

Doubt it will stop the old cow up the road from wandering into peoples gardens to let her dog sh*t in them
