    Not good unfortunately

No, did they not say that if it goes above 4% that it means they've lost control over the virus??

There is no excuse for contracting it except fecklessness and stupidity at this point.

Ah yes those feckless stupid healthcare workers, how dare they contract it accidentally while trying to care for others!

One of the most moronic comments I've ever read in these threads and that's quite the achievement.

Re flu vaccine, I'm going to book in at my local pharmacy. Doesn't bother me to wait a month for an appointment. I suppose as long as I get it before the worst of the flu season (Dec/Jan I think?) then it'll be worth it. It's not me virtue signalling or anything, it's just a nagging feeling at the back of my mind that it would be just my luck to catch the flu and covid at the same time. I think I'd be able to cope with either of them on their own, but both at the same time? Fvck no. And I HATE hospitals. I hate jabs too. But I hate hospitals way WAY more.
I got mine on Thursday. I'm not exaggerating when I say that I didn't even feel the jab. Pretty sure it was the same when I got it the last few years.

Border Counties are Donegal, Leitrim, Cavan, Monaghan and Louth.

Think Leitrim is doing the best of those, then Louth.

My local electoral area of Leitrim has stayed on <5 for the last 5 weeks. I’m a few km from the border. Don’t see why we should be put to Level 4.

Level 3 has been in place for only 5 days and thus, given the incubation period, many of those cases probably involve infection that took place before Level 3 was brought in. So why use today's figures to justify Level 4? Why not give Level 3 a chance to work before deciding whether to go to Level 4?
There is no great political enthusiasm to go to Level 4 or beyond at present. It's the Indo once again. For some reason they have a very strong yen for higher restriction levels. All eyes are on Dublin in that respect, if R0 does drop below 1 soon enough, it is probably the way forward, albeit very slowly. Hospital numbers, of course, may lay waste to any current plan.

anything below 5% is considered under control by the WHO

Yes just to keep up the fear

I'll be killed for saying this probably, but another narcissist telling us how they "could have died" all over every bit of media that soaks it up. And then, quite predictably, Govt. join on the bandwagon, you can nearly see the thought process of "Hey, look, young person, covid, got through it, healthy, doesn't smoke, hardly drinks, role model etc. etc." Yawn. :D

So based on that: Sunday swabs 582 and announced 814.

Can I ask where u get the daily figure - I can only get the weekend totals on Monday!

Thats a nice backlog of 232 cases yesterday

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,132 ✭✭✭✭is_that_so

So it could be anything from 700-1000 cases today!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,920 ✭✭✭✭hynesie08

So if there were sub 600 positive swabs yesterday, do we think that's the "backlog" cleared, so today's number should be a close representation of the actual figure...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,133 ✭✭✭KrustyUCC

I've given up trying to figure out backlogs but I fear todays number will be high

Give up on the "backlog", look to 7 and 14 day totals!

What was the positivity rate yesterday?

I know, there is no way to be sure what 24hr is as there is no positive number release from yesterday. You could use the 814 but we all know the daily positive numbers on testing doesn't match the number of cases each day.
What was the positivity rate yesterday?

There is none on a sunday

Thanks, should be fixed now :) It might be buggy around when swabs/case data gets released just since they're two different datasets and the logic behind the chart is....messy until I get a chance to fix it up properly :pac:

The majority of people are not paying attention so this fear mongering is just making those already in fear even worse.

Exactly. The people they are trying to reach probably don't even know that the press conferences take place. Government PR advertising campaigns are generally very badly targeted.

On the hub I have never seen results published on a sunday. Monday lists 2 days of positives.

Swabs exceeded announced by 488 between Thursday and Friday. 297 of that was 'pulled back' over weekend.

Could there have been 191 retests of positive cases? Who knows.

It's a really nice site with the data!
Any chance of adding in a previous 7/14 day total of swabs and cases announced. Be easy to work out potential backlogs then!
